It’s fifth versus ninth in a clash that will have a significant bearing on the respective sides’ finals hopes.
Glory were somewhat comfortable in the top six before the break, but are now in danger of dropping out of the finals altogether. Returning from the hiatus with a win over Central Coast, they are now on a two-game losing streak at the worst possible time. They need at least a point tonight to turn the tide.
In their last outing, Perth put in an uncharacteristically loose defensive showing, conceding five times in a loss to Adelaide United.
Coach Tony Popovic will be looking for a vastly improved performance against Western Sydney.
The Wanderers secured an important 1-0 victory over Wellington in their last match. They will be looking to continue their momentum as the race for the last two or three finals spots becomes tighter and tighter.
Jean-Paul de Marigny was impressed with his side’s performance and believes there is much more to come.
A win for the Wanderers would be a big step towards finals football. If they can pick up the three points, they’ll go equal with Glory on 34 points.
Forward Nicolai Muller suffered a concussion in the win over Wellington and will be unavailable.
