Respect for the ref on the Football field does NOT need to be earned every game. It IS already earned when the ref passed all the exams and proved himself in lower leagues. Players are obligated to obey all commands!!! If they don't like it they can find another job!!!

Fielding lost control of the game the moment he blew his whistle at kick off. Players will respond to good firm refereeing and give them respect when they deserve it. The very fact that var has been introduced runs sequentially with the fact that refereeing is of a very poor standard. The recent inclusion of Japanese refs into the A League has shown up our underperforming officials and if they want respectr they have to earn it.
