Fast4 Tennis - 2019 fixtures, players, rules and broadcast details

Fast4 Tennis returned to Australia on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Homebush, Sydney.

The exhibition event proved a hit with the fans and featured John Millman, Nick Kyrgios, Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic in a Team Australia vs Team World format.

Some of the biggest names in tennis have played the new and innovative format, which has been dubbed the answer for tennis to Twenty20 cricket.

The format is aimed at speeding up the game of tennis, with fewer breaks in play and some rules tweaked to speed up play.

The first to four games will win the set, with the tie-breaker to being if the set reaches three games all. No advantage scores will be played when games get to deuce, lets are considered as a play on, adding serious spice to service games.

Rules
– Singles matches will are best of three short sets.
– Sets are first to four games, with a shortened tiebreak to be played if the game reaches 3-all.
– Tiebreaks are first to five points, with a sudden death point at 4-all.
– There is no advantage played. If a game reaches deuce, the receiver will choose which side of the court the ball will be served to for a sudden-death point.
– No lets will be called on serves, meaning that when the ball hits the net and bounces in the service box, play will go on.
– Players are not allowed to sit down at the change of ends.
– The break between sets is 90 seconds. Players are allowed to sit down then, but not between games.

2019 Fast4 Tennis broadcast schedule

The 2019 Fast 4 event was broadcast on Channel 9 along with the majority of the summer of tennis including the Hopman Cup, Brisbane International, Sydney International, and of course the Australian Open.
