After Day 16 of the French Open was washed out, Madison Keys and Ashleigh Barty will take to Suzanne-Lenglen court on tonight. Join The Roar for live coverage of the quarter-final, with live scores and a blog of the match starting at 8:00pm (AEST).

Keys and Barty were scheduled to play yesterday, however, play was abandoned at 12:30am AEST due to persistent rain.

The first cancelled day since 2016 has caused havoc with programming, this top-side of the Women’s draw will now require play on three consecutive days.

The winner of this clash will line-up in the semi-final on Friday against either Simona Halep or Amanda Anisimova, with one progressing to the final on Saturday.

Conditions are expected to be much better on Thursday, though the schedule has been brought forward to a 12-noon (local) start time to allow for the games to be completed.

Let’s take a look at the quarter-finalists taking to Court Suzanne-Lenglen tonight.

American Madison Keys is ranked number 14 in the world and has had a solid run to the quarter-finals.

Challenged by Australian Priscilla Hon in the second round and Anna Blinkova in the third, Keys is fit and has found some form on clay this year.

The 24-year-old right-hander has won four titles and was a semi-finalist at last year’s French Open. She will be looking to match that result with a win against Barty.

Eighth seed Ashleigh Barty is in brilliant form and is making a play for a top-five ranking with her performance at this tournament.

The Australian 23-year-old won her first three singles matches in straight sets, before taking on Sofia Kenin in the fourth round.

Challenged by the American in the second set, Barty went on to win the final set 6-0 and has progressed through with her best-ever French Open performance.

Keys and Barty met recently in the USA vs Australia Fed Cup World Group round one tie, in Asheville, North Carolina.

Barty won her rubber against Keys 6-4, 6-1.

The pair have met at the French Open before, in round one 2017, and it was Keys who advanced on that occasion.

Barty is one of the most frustrating players to face on tour at present, she possesses all the weapons required to win a grand slam title and has a calm presence on court.

While Keys will push the Australian, it will be Barty’s persistence that helps her to victory.

Barty in three sets.
