Australia will look to maintain their winning form ahead of the quarter-finals of the ATP Cup when they play Greece in the final match of the group stages at Pat Rafter Arena. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the matches from 5:30pm (AEDT).

After Germany’s 2-1 win over Greece a couple of nights ago, Australia officially secured passage to the quarter-finals of the maiden ATP Cup on the back of two 3-0 wins over Canada and Germany.

Australia have been very impressive thus far in the tournament with Alex de Minaur in particular once again standing tall for his country, beating class opponents Denis Shapovalov and Alexander Zverev despite losing the opening set in each match.

Nick Kyrgios, by contrast, has had a limited impact so far on Australia’s campaign, winning his opening tie against Jan-Lennard Struff before withdrawing from his match against Felix Auger-Aliassime because of back pain. It remains to be seen if he will back up today against Michail Pervolarakis given the tie is a dead rubber for Australia.

If he doesn’t back up, John Millman will take his place, with the established Australian more than capable of leading the charge on the back of his great performance against Auger-Aliassime.

Regardless of who Pervolarakis plays, Millman or Kyrgios will start as the heavy favourite in their tie against the Greek player, who is still finding his feet on the ATP tour.

The most enticing match-up of this tie, however, is Stefanos Tsitsipas versus de Minaur. A 2019 Australian Open semi-finalist, Tsitsipas has had a decent ATP Cup thus far, defeating Zverev in straight sets after losing to Shapovalov in the opening tie against Canada.

At his best, though, Tsitsipas is a real talent, capable of replicating his stunning a 2019 Australian Open campaign where he defeated none other than two-time reigning champion Roger Federer.

Tsitsipas has also imposed himself over de Minaur in their head-to-head, leading 3-0, which includes a comprehensive victory in the Paris Masters last season in straight sets.

At his best, Tsitsipas has de Minaur covered for talent and power and if the Greek player finds his range, de Minaur will have few answers for the world number six.

With that said, de Minaur is playing well in Brisbane and is always a chance of causing an upset with his tenacity and exceptional court coverage.

Prediction
Kyrgios or Millman should win their opening tie against Pervolarakis while Tsitsipas at his best should have de Minaur’s measure in a tight three-setter. In the doubles, the combination of John Peers and Chris Guccione should also once again prosper over a fatigued Pervolarakis and Tsitsipas, leading Australia to a 2-1 victory.

Australia to win 2-1.
