Match duration: 1 hour, 13 minutes

After Australia and Spain split the first two rubbers of their Hopman Cup tie, all four players will be back for a crucial mixed doubles match. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from around 11:30pm (AEDT).

Australia, who beat France in their opening tie before the New Year, need to beat Spain to set up a qualifing tie for the final on Friday night against Germany.

Ashleigh Barty and Matthew Ebden have both played outstanding tennis so far during the Hopman Cup, but they will be a little bit on the concerned side heading into this doubles match.

They lost to France on Saturday night in their first tie and while they won it overall, a loss here would make qualification difficult even with an overall win against Germany later in the week.

While Ashleigh Barty is one of the best female double players in the world, mixed doubles are commanded by the male, and so there is plenty of pressure on Ebden to deliver here.

On the other side of the net, Spain lost to Germany in their opening tie, but Ferrer is one of the most experienced players in the world, and Muguruza is no slouch either.

Still, neither are known for their doubles play, and the lack of combination was evident against Germany. Fixing it enough to beat the Australians will take a lot of effort here.

Essentially, Ferrer will need to lead the way and be very, very strong at the net, while Muguruza focuses on the power game to get the job done.

Prediction
Barty is one of the best doubles players in the world and while the male needs to lead the team, Ebden will have learnt a lot from Saturday night’s tough loss at the hands of France. I expect Australia to get the job done.

Australia in three sets.

This match in terms of pure quality was probably better. Obviously, in terms of making history, nothing comes close to last night.

What a wonderful, entertaining doubles match! Last night’s doubles may habe been historic (Williams v Federer) but the quality tonight was superb.

GAME, SET, MATCH, TIE, AUSTRALIA And a fault. Ebden returns well. Very, very well and Ferrer has come running forward, but his drive volley flies long! What drama. What entertainment. Australia are through and their Hopman Cup campaign live is still alive after they came back from a set down in the Fast 4 doubles to take the win. Awesome evening of tennis in Perth. And a fault for Barty. The second is returned back at her, then it's a crosscourt rally before Ebden gets involved and hits Ferrer on the foot with it. Excellent shot. AUS 3 4 3 - 1 ESP 4 3 3 - 1
