One of the most highly-anticipated matches of the Australian summer of tennis will see Roger Federer and Serena Williams share the same court as Switzerland and the USA take on each other in mixed doubles. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from around 11:30pm (AEDT).
Two of the greatest players to ever hit the tennis court, Federer and Williams, they have won 43 grand slams between them and are the respective record holders for the prestigious title of most grand slams in history for their specific genders.
Never before have they been placed on the same court, and with age catching up, you’d be stunned if it was to ever happen again.
Their respective team partners Frances Tiafoe and Belinda Bencic are unfortunately going to be taking somewhat of a backseat in this one, with all eyes on the Fed Express and Williams.
For Switzerland, it could all but book their ticket to a second straight final with a win tonight after they crused Great Britain 3-0 in their opening rubber.
Federer and Bencic continued their outstanding doubles partnership from last year, smoking the Great Britain team in straight Fast 4 sets.
On the other side of the coin, chances of the USA getting to the final hinge on winning both of their last two rubbers and then being ahead in the tiebreakers to determine ladder position.
Being beaten in doubles against Greece wasn’t the way Williams and Tiafoe would have wanted to start their tournament, and the pressure will be on them to improve out of sight if they want to compete with the Swiss.
Prediction
Who knows. Doubles matches between players who don’t often play doubles can go in many different ways. However, Bencic and Federer won this tournament last year, so I’d have to think they will get the job done.
Switzerland in three sets.

Well, that was definitely something a bit different. Something unique. On the other foot, Switzerland should be heading back to the final on Saturday. Just need to hold their own against Greece.

GAME, SET, MATCH, SWITZERLAND
Federer and Bencic have taken it out for Switzerland, winning this Hopman Cup tie with Tiafoe putting a ball into the net.
It wasn’t really about the result though. It was about the two greatest players of all time sharing the same court together for the first and more than likely, the last time.
Just an awesome experience to watch.

Match point. Federer with a good serve and Williams can't return. USA 2 3 - 3 SWI 4 3 - 4

Well, this was called an ace, but there is a hawkeye challenge and so it's no an ace, with the ball missing by nothing. The second serve is returned well, but then Federer volleys the winner. Federer has three service points to end the breaker. Whoever wins two, wins. USA 2 3 - 3 SWI 4 3 - 3

Bencic holds the serve then. Good play from the corner and Tiafoe, trying to avoid Federer, goes sharp on the angle and nets it. USA 2 3 - 2 SWI 4 3 - 2

Bencic at Williams. Williams returns, then tries to hit a backhand high, but that'll go down as an unforced error as it sails long. USA 2 3 - 2 SWI 4 3 - 1

Williams a fault. Then Federer cuts the return straight at Tiafoe. He volleys, then volleys again and puts it away nicely on a sharp angle. USA 2 3 - 1 SWI 4 3 - 0
