Unibet

Unibet is part of the Kindred group – one of the largest online gambling companies in the world.

Founded in London in 1997 by Anders Ström, the Australian arm of this international business was launched as a rebrand of Betchoice in 2012. In keeping with Ström’s passion, the platform emphasises sports more than racing, compared to the majority of online bookies.

We’ve explored what Unibet has to offer account holders in relation to markets, odds, interface use and odds in our full review below.

Sports & Racing Markets

There is a wide range of markets at Unibet with options available across racing like Win/Place, Quinellas, Trifectas and Quadrellas. Aside from the major codes like AFL, NRL, soccer, NBA, and tennis, Unibet covers a lot of popular and niche sporting events around the world.

Unibet’s range of sports markets is extensive, covering all the standard markets as well as First/Last/Anytime goal scorers for all players, a selection of player multis and even options for player fantasy sports.

Odds

Looking at some random markets, we checked to see what odds the Houston Rockets were paying against the LA Clippers (2nd November 2022) and at the time of checking the odds were as follows:

Unibet: $3.95

PlayUp: $4.20

Sportsbet: $4.10

Betr: $4.05

TAB: $4.00

Neds: $4.10

Ladbrokes: $4.10

Typically Unibet seem to be around the middle of the pack, however in this instance they wouldn’t be the best option.

Interface and Ease of Use

The Unibet interface is quite different compared to the same-same you tend to see across most other sites. As soon as you arrive on their homepage your attention is immediately commanded by the huge promo banner, so you won’t miss their latest offers.

Scrolling down you’ll find a live ‘Next to Go’ racing list plus an interactive sports market list side by side. Unibet also has clear links to current promotions, live streaming, their blog, and the current, most popular market.

The site design makes it very easy to find the markets you’re after by clicking either Sports or Racing in the top menu. The betting pages include sub-sections linking to racing guides, sports statistics, and FAQs – this level of detail allows punters to make well-informed decisions on their betting choices.

Other options from the top menu include Promotions, Features and Blog, all of which help to provide a great punting experience.

The mobile site offers a similar experience as the desktop, just optimised to suit a mobile screen.

Betting Apps

Apps for Android and iOS devices are available through Google Play and the App Store respectively. While the apps are good for placing and tracking bets, they don’t have as much content or perform as intuitively as the desktop and mobile sites.

Special Offers and Welcome Bonuses

Due to strict regulations, bookmakers are no longer allowed to promote any special deposit bonuses or deposit matches as these are considered an ‘inducement’ to open an account. You must create an account and log in to see their latest offers.

What sets Unibet apart?

As detailed above, Unibet’s platform layout is a step above what you see from other bookmakers.

The amount of detailed content available to digest and use to inform your betting is really what makes Unibet stand out. In particular, the statistics section provided by their partnership with Sport Radar is very helpful and you’ll find detailed data across an extensive selection of sports from all over the globe.

Further to this, Unibet’s live streaming feature offers plenty of options. Although popular events are already owned by TAB and Sportsbet, you can still bet on and watch niche international sports like South American soccer leagues, WNBA, darts, and ice hockey.

Responsible Gambling

Like all reputable, licensed bookmakers, Unibet offers responsible gambling help. If your gambling is getting out of hand or to be more than you can afford, you can set limits to how much you deposit, and have the option to temporarily or permanently self-exclude.

Any negatives?

Other than the little lag we noticed when using the mobile app, Unibet’s offering is pretty solid.

Conclusion

Unibet is one of the top bookie platforms with plenty of great features, all the racing and sports markets you could want, and a large catalogue of useful content to help punters choose what to bet on.

They do live up to their slogan as being By Players, For Players, and we recommend giving them a try.
