The Sydney Spirit to continue. For now!

By Trevor / Roar Pro

According to a statement released by the NBL, the Spirit home game on Saturday night will go ahead as scheduled and it appears the team will be able to continue for the remainder of the season, albeit with a cut in salary for players and staff.

The players are still prepared to take the court despite these developments.

The default proceedings set out by the league still remain in force.

Once again, bad management leaves a sporting club in peril through no fault of their own.

It’d be nice now to see the Spirit fire, as they are capable of taking the game up to a number of teams sitting higher on the ladder.

Currently in seventh spot, they face a tough game Saturday night against the Dragons.

But as we’ve seen this season anything can, and has happened and I wouldn’t be surprised if the boys came out on the back of this upheaval and took the game from their fancied opponents.

It’d also be nice to see a bit of home town support for this struggling club given the fact that the players are so dedicated to the cause.

But I guess that remains to be seen.

Yes Hayden, it was a great win for the Spirit especially given the fact that Khazzouh and Low sat off, and good to see a bit of a crowd show up. I read what Goorj had to say this week and he took the game very seriously knowing this result was possible. Who knows what corporate sponsorship could arise between now and next year. Maybe I'm just the eternal optimist but Sydney still need a team and the Spirit are there so we'll have to wait and see I guess.

Well they got over 2,500 which is almost 2,000 more than there last game. Even though i know that they won't be around next year, it is still good to hear a good news story. Hopefully there call to arms can continue and grow bigger.
