Play a State of Origin at Dairy Farmers Stadium

By Crazy Dave / Roar Rookie

I have just finished watching a brilliant game of footy between the Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys. I have to declare here that the Broncos are my favourite team.

I always enjoy watching games from the North Queensland Cowboys Stadium because of the passion that the North Queensland fans have for their game. The announcer at Dairy Farmers is the best at being able to get the crowd supporting their team.

It is my opinion that Dairy Farmers, and the North Queensland crowd are just made for State Of Origin.

I suggest that the Queensland Rugby League should look at holding one State Of Origin match every two years at Dairy Farmers Stadium. In the years when Queensland hosts two games in the series, why can’t the first game be at Dairy Farmers?

Is there a contract somewhere that both games have to be at Lang Park?

Let’s give North Queensland fans a chance to experience State Of Origin at their home stadium, rather than force them to come to Brisbane for these games.

By the same token how about a NSW home game in Canberra or Newcastle!

I love the crowds and the atmosphere that permeates onto the TV screen at Townsville. However, unless the stadium can hold 50,000 minimum,to give the SOO the atmosphere and crowd it deserves, that event should only be hedld in large areana.Just my opinion. The only alternative I see, would be the TV station involved making up the shortfall in crowd monies to stage it there. The SOO would still be the Tv ratings winner,it continues to be. No wonder the mob in Nz(at Eden Park) want to stage one of the matches there.

I like the idea. Although the stadium would need some temporary seating to get to (at least) 30,000.
