Coast anger at Victory tactics

MVFC has 18.5k members and the maximum membership - given the capacity constraints of the AAMI Park stadium - is 22k members. Heart needs all the support it can muster so, as a MVFC member I say BRAVO that your mate has chosen them .. of course, he'll be without any football action after next w/e, whilst MVFC will have finals and then the ACL. :-)

I'm suprised that anyone is suprised, Victory have been increasing the physical aspect of their game for the last few seasons. Similar trends started to appear at Brisbane when we had Moore, Tiatto even Bob Malcolm tried a bit of wrestling in one particularly funny but sad match. The match officials did not seem to have as much of an issue handing out cards to Brisbane players around that time and cynical watchers of the game might suggest that was because Brisbane do not pull as many fans through the turnstiles as Victory. If it is any indication of future growth of Melbourne Heart, a friend of mine has just moved to Melbourne and has adopted Heart as a second team. The logical move would have been to adopt Victory and he would have more likely to be watching a trophy winning side, but his dislike of the Victory win at all costs culture and the abrasive style they have adopted as the clubs football philosphy turned him away.

Oh, and by the way, Pondeljak's yellow card was for dissent. Pondeljak had been hacked from behind but, of course, b/c he plays for MVFC it's does not always result in a free-kick. He didn't even complain so the ref, obviously embarrassed, tried to explain why he didn't pay the foul and Tommy was fed-up and just waved the Ref away. And, for waving the ref away, Tommy Pondeljak, MVFC player, got a yellow card! Un-effing-believable!

Hey Miron et al Here's the foul count for the 6 matches MVFC v GCU .. only once has MVFC committed more fouls and, even in that game, GCU had a player sent off! Total: MVFC 74 GCU 93 2010/11 29-08-10: MVFC 10; GCU 18 06-11-10: MVFC 10; GCU 11 30-01-11: MVFC: 9; GCU 15 2009/10 26-09-09: MVFC: 23 GCU 15, but ... Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Thwaite makes out that the treble was won in 2008-09 by playing less physical. How would he know? He was out of the team by the time the Victory made their run to the Premiership late in the season. Give me a break.

And how many career ending tackles has McKay committed in comparison to Muscat's glorious on field achievements.

GB Only one team played any type of reasonable football yesterday - with 2 cracking individual goals - and it certainly wasn't the lads from up north. You're kidding if you think Podeljak is a "hard player" or some sort of Muscat protege. And here's a gem for you Muscat-haters ... prior to this season, the new "golden boy of Australian football", Matt McKay had picked up as many red cards (3) as Kevin Muscat, including 2 red cards in Season 1 of the HAL.

Fuss, the only hackers I saw on the field were the protege's of Muscat. Did you count the number of yellow cards GCU FC received? All the yellow cards on the day were given to Melbourne Victory's R. Vargas, T. Pondeljak, which duly out weighed the GCU players. And to see Muscat stand and acknowledge the cheers from the Victory fans, is testament to the disgraceful culture that exist at the club. Noted by none other then Les Murray and Craig Foster. You would do better to acknowledge the shortcomings of those bad elements there; get rid of them, and get the club back on track playing good football and not with brutality..

Another Monday morning and another 'Victory are Angels' repsonse by Fussball ist unser leben. Tell me something about your FACTs? Or at least define this. If a players runs his stubs down another oppenents calf with his tags and has a foul called against him, and in another incident the opponent has the ball hit his hand and has a fould called against him, are both players deemed to be equally as dirty or clean as they have 1 foul each? The number of fouls doesn't indicate that intention of the foul. And that is a FACT.

Another Monday morning and another anti-MVFC rant from a manager of a team that regularly fails to produce during the crunch games against strong opposition, and is now under extreme pressure with 4 games remaining - 3 games against the top 3 teams. And, he knows MVFC breathing down his neck in competition for a home final. I was at AAMI Park yesterday and, quite frankly, Gold Coast were disgraceful - in their tactics, in their endeavour, in their technique and with their tackling. Miron should have a look at the FACTs to identify, which team were the hackers and which played football FOULS committed yesterday: MVFC: 7 GCU: 13 POSSESSION: MVFC: 60% GCU: 40% ... Here's a bit of free managerial tactical advice, Miron ... your team could not be tackled by MVFC b/c your team hardly had the ball!! Every time Carlos went near the ball, he was chopped down from behind or held. Marvin & Mate got the same treatment, but these guys are gentlemen, who only know how to retaliate one way ... by making GCU look like amateurs. However, if opponents decide to hack away at Brebs, Leijer, Vargas or Danny, guess what ... they'll eventually hack back at you. Except MVFC lads don't go crying to their daddy/manager and ask him to complain to the teacher/FFA. With Robbie K, Archie & Surat to return in the next week, the rest of the HAL now realise that the VICTORY ARE COMING ... and opponents are starting to "soil their trousers".
