Ah, it must be nice to be Wayne Bennett. Unlike many other senior australians, Bennett’s skill is still useful and in demand. But the million dollar question is: what should Bennett do next?
If you read the papers, there are anywhere between three and five clubs chasing the signature of the mecurial 61 year old wizard. And each of the clubs has some attraction.
Both Queensland entities would pay top dollar and allow Bennett to get back to the laidback country lifestyle that he so enjoys. The Sydney clubs wouldn’t have the lifstyle deal attached, but they would attach a bit of romance.
Romance in the form of coaching South Sydney, the club his son supports, to a drought breaking premiership. Romance in the form of coaching the big Red V to multiple premierships,something very few modern era coaches have acheived.
Or romance in the form of the Bulldogs.
A premiership for the Bulldogs would be icing on the cake for Bennett, as it would allow him to enjoy both the tradition and culture of the great Sydney club.
Money would be no problem. Each of the clubs in the race would almost give him a blank cheque to sign for their club.
The only downside for Bennett may come with a lack of success. It would be sad if reality did not match expectations. The Sydney clubs, especially, could turn on a man who is probably the greatest coach in the history of the game.
So for Bennett the question may not be what to do, but it could be as simple as where to go.

Rabbits, Dogs or Drags? Not sure he would mix well with Crowe, and dogs great tradition and culture - means nothing to a Queenslander. And the Drags - is just a job, rarely talks about the club with any feeling, it's all about the result. He once mentioned himself he would like to spend more time in Brissy (with the wife) - so don't cross out the Broncs or retirement (on a high note) either.
