With round one of the 2011 NRL season upon us, it is always interesting to hear the predictions of the expert and not so expert footy fan on who will take out the premiership.
Being a Manly (we love to be hated) fan myself, I have to admit I go into this season with not much confidence that the Eagles will do much and think that they may even struggle to make the top eight this year.
A lack of depth on the bench, a young halves pairing, and the fact that they bought no-one in the off-season are reasons for my lack of confidence, together with again having the worst ground facilities (Brookvale Oval) in the competition. It could be a very cold winter for an Eagles fan in 2011.
My top eight for this year are:
1. Dragons 2. Titans 3. Tigers 4. Panthers 5. Roosters 6. Warriors 7. Bulldogs 8. Eels.
Who’s your tip?

1: Dragons 2: Tigers 3: Bulldogs 4: Storm 5: Broncos 6: Raiders 7: Roosters 8: Warriors Wooden Spoon: Sharks However, I don't think the Dragons will go one to win the Premiership. I'm going for a roughie to win it this year. Dogs, Storm, Broncos, Raiders. One of them.

Canberra always struggle against Benji Marshall (more than most teams). He tore them apart early, and Canberra just couldn't create the openings at the end of that game. They will succeed, provided they can solve their two biggest issues. The first is ball security. The second is structure in attack, by that I mean having the backline set, running onto the ball, playmakers directing play, decoy runners. It's so frustrating watching them attack sometimes, with players catching the ball while standing still. My Top 8: 1. St George 2. Wests 3. Melbourne 4. Parramatta 5. Gold Coast 6. Canberra 7. Easts 8. Newcastle

Canberra look very strong but might miss Campo. Has there ever been an occasion when one injury has ruined two seasons???!!! Raiders could have gone all the way in 2010 if Campese had stayed on the field in that semi v Tigers, let alone this season!

I think it could be the year of the tiger, looking at their lineup they are very strong. The warriors and dragons to be their main challengers. Of course I'm hoping the mighty green machine will destroy them all and bring the trophy back to Canberra. But that might be next year.

You know you have too much time on your hands when you sit down and predict every game of the season and the post your predictions for the season on a blog. But that's what I have done. 1 - Dragons 2 - Bulldogs 3 - Titans 4 - Raiders 5 - Wests Tigers 6 - Storm 7 - Broncos 8 - Warriors 9 - Panthers 10 - Sea Eagles 11 - Knights 12 - Roosters 13 - Rabbitohs 14 - Eels 15 - Cowboys 16 - Sharks Dragons were undefeated. Roosters had 2nd year syndrome like the Bulldogs last year. Positions 4 - 10 all finished on equal Points. Sharks only won 4 games.

As a Tigers fan, I am VERY excited about this season. Unless Benji and/or Robbie suffer significant injuries, then the Tigers should be there at the end of the season again in 2011. And, if they have their game faces on from Day One, a Minor Premiership is not out of the question. The Tigers have the depth to survive a long season, and prosper. My Top 8 (in no particular order): Tigers Saints Roosters Canberra Newcastle Warriors Doggies Souffs As for the winners - any one of the Tigers, Saints, Roosters, Raiders and Warriors. But I am hoping (and praying) the Tigers can do it!
