Live scores, blog: Melbourne vs Carlton

By The Roar / Editor

The Melbourne Demons hope to get their AFL season back on track tonight but face a hot Carlton, who lost narrowly to the unbeaten Geelong Cats last round.

The Dees have had an up and down season, and are in ordinary form after being beaten by St Kilda, while Carlton should have won against the Cats and will come out firing to cement a top four spot.

Melbourne are back at the MCG where they play well, but Carlton are the deserved hot favourites going into the round ten clash.

For the Blues, Chris Judd is under some injury concern with an ankle problem and has been named, but will have many Super Coaches sweating on his announcement.

FINAL SCORE: Carlton 13.15 (93) def Melbourne 6.10 (46)

Melbourne: $4.90 Carlton $1.17

The Dees have as much right to Friday night football as anyone. Yes, they were disappointing last nite, but they are a rising team, they were playing with a reduced team, and it's not as if they play every week. Compare that to Richmond who has produced some dreadful season-launching performances, yet they still co-own the match.

IMO he's the best player in the AFL, a position I think he has held for the past couple of seasons, and which he is currently confirming.

Gerard Whately on the mark: Carlton twice as good as Melbourne. 93-46. If Demons think that's limiting the damage well that's lost on me. #afldeesblues Parkin: the way Melbourne played was never going to win the game. Don't think the result justifies the method. Nothing constructive at all.

One thing about a game like tonight is to see just how far ahead of his peers a player like Judd is. Time and again, where others were struggling, he was in there winning clean possession - it's very hard to understand just how keeps doing it, but he does.
