You talk about being a good football fan and throwing around the term "we are football', yet in the same instance you ridcule a club like Olympic. practice what you preach

how were they diehard Olympic fans if they support Sydney FC? That doesn't make any sense at all. Clearly they were never diehard at all

The only thing funnier than this article is some of the responses. Many people called it as bs, however another half believed it and either backed it or attacked old soccer. Some very poor comments! Thumbs down to The Roar for publishing this rubbish in the first place.

Someone who has never said a word here and you allow an article like that through?

I had the misfortune to read the "piece". I had no idea that this web site published fiction. And poor, unimaginative, down right bitter fiction dreamt up by some unbeleivably sad people.

Welcome Luke & I hope you keep coming back. I think it's sad as we get enough ridicule from the other codes without copping from supposive football fans because it' not as good as the O/S leagues or this comparison between the NSL days to the A-league.

Rasic is a hero & anyone with football history would know him. But as for his weird last name, like Van Schip, Laviska, Postecolgu, Van Edmond, Dukakovic, Bleiberg & Culina, oh no they are A-League coaches, sorry. I think you have agenda, bye.

A poor, poor football fan. Just face it. The NSL was nothing close and could never have come close to what the A-League is, and anyway, why are you contributing to the downfall of the A-League? The FFA has come a long way and will continue improving just for people like you to shun it? Sydney olympic is a second class team, the NSWPL and the VPL etc. Are semi professional leagues. Face it. I happend to be at the SFC vs GCU game and I tell you what, the atmosphere was amazing, especially for 11,051, to be precise. Number 1: the smurfs and tards, although different styles, are the best in the league, and I find that sydney fc fans are also one of the most warm and welcoming fans in the league. Number 2: I also have ethnic looks and you know what? I don't get racial comments or anything of the sort at A-league games(with the unfortunate exception of melbourne), and trust me, if been plenty of times to Suncorp, Bluetongue, ausgrid, AAMI park, Etihad, SFS and hindmarsh. but I once went to BSG and I got plenty of racism, and I haven't been back since! Number 3: Just to clarify, THEY DONT GIVE TICKETS OUT AT SFS! Even if they have small crowds! And the funny this is that if you look at the crowd numbers, I think the most likely to give out ticketS for low crowds is Sydney Olympic! Especially looking at how unofficial they actually are. Number 4: you must be extremely stuck up with your cash. Number 5: BEAUCHAMP didn't dive, he was kicked-look at the replay. Number 6: the players and fans for that matter are extremely passionate. To sum it all up, you're too stuck up with the past to acknowledge the fact that football in Australia has moved on, and since you supported sydney olympic, you have a grudge against SFC because they are in a higher class than your sydney club. You really got to work on your story to make it more believable. If you want, next time you go, come with an open mind as a supporter, as someone who's going to ha e a good time at a proffesional Australian football game, and then I promise you that you'll have a great time, oh yea, and tell your ethnic friend that he can sit next to me. As a football fan, WE ARE FOOTBALL is affecting football in Australia with regard to unity in a good way-"shoulder to shoulder with a stranger, united behind football". Well done FFA. If you don't agree with all this, that's ok, but don't lie to get your way and ruin it for others. Follow sydney olympic. Be my guest-actually, all our guest. WE ARE FOOTBALL indeed.

Did I say Sydney FC was making money? I can't see your logic where you think somehow the Croatian, Greek or whatever even Japanese community would be able to run a professional club which and could cough up that sort of money on an annual basis where its supporters would come from primarily from whichever heritage even with the $1.5M FFA hand out to clubs with the current TV deal.

Rasic is an Australian hero and 9/10 of the A-League fans have no idea who he is, to them he is a funny looking old man with a weird last name

because Sydney FC's making money? theyve lost $15 million in 3 years all by themselves BEFORE they signed Emerton, and while the FFA was subsidising travel for teams between venues as well.. no leg to stand on regarding the financial credibility of the clubs or the league
