Pacquaio vs Marquez III: Live updates, blog

By The Roar / Editor

Manny Pacquiao fights Juan Manuel Marquez at fight night in Las Vegas with the frenetically followed Filipino looking to end the trilogy the victor. Join us for live updates and blog of Pacquaio vs Marquez III.

The loyalty of the sold out MGM Grand Garden Arena will be with the ‘Pacman’, who has a bigger following around the world than Justin Bieber with teenage girls.

Marquez will be fighting the best pound-for-pound boxer of the era (with only Floyd Mayweather able to argue differently – and that’s another story) for the third time.

The first fight between the two occured in 2004, a fight that went to a controversial decision which resulted in a draw, scored 115–110 for Márquez, 115–110 for Pacquiao, and 113–113 each.

The second fight, a rematch called “Unfinished Business” was won by Pacquiao in a split decision, with the decisive factor a third round knockdown to Marquez, floored by a Pacquiao left hook.

The judges’ scores were 115–112 for Márquez, 15–112 for Pacquiao and 114–113 for Pacquiao.

The final in the trilogy has been previewed by The Roar – read the analysis and prediction and the story of the pair here.

c'mmon.. it only says that judges are not convinced either impressed about what marquez did.. and in he first place marquez was the challenger of the fight, maybe if he get manny on the floor he won... and if u noiced after the fight, marquez praised himself as a winner, but take a look at manny, he went to the corner and prayed.. :)

Part IV, with the winner to fight Mayweather - thats how I'd do it. Of course, it all depends on the money ...

Manny says: "I feel I won the fight. It was close but I won. The headbutts hurt me. Yes I want to give him a rematch" Part IV, or a fight against Mayweather for Pacquiao?

Danny Green via Twitter: "Disgusting. Disgusting. That stinks. Paqcuiao knows he lost. Those judges are foul cheats." ESPN's Dan Rafael: "It's getting scary in here - Crowd is loudly booing Pacquiao. People are throwing things"

Haha I was worried there for a second as I didn't remember saying that.

Manny Pacquiao believes he "obviously won the fight" and Bob Arum states he thought that Pac won the bout and that its only really mexicans that thought he didn't. Well colour me Mexican.

Manny Paquio and the All Blacks have a lot in common. Both very very lucky. Marquez should have a few drinks with the French rugby team and chit chat about shared feelings.

I'd be cautious about calling Pacquiao the best pound-for-pound fighter of his era as he had one tie and two split decisions against Juan Manuel Marquez ...

OFFICIAL DECISION 114-114, 115-113 and 116-112 to the winner by majority decision, MANNY PACQUIAO. Batten down the hatches Philippines, there be a Mexican wave coming your way.

I have it seven rounds to five for Marquez. If he doesn't get the decision my brother predicts that Mexico will invade the Phillipines. Offical decision coming up next.

ROUND 12 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ Quiet opening to the round but Pacquiao picks it up throughout the middle. He looks like he wants the knockout but he's not going to find out. His mouthguard falls out with 30 seconds left that kills any momentum he had. He probably took the close round but I don't think it will be enough. 10-9 Pac

ROUND 11 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ Another extremely close round that sees the two trading evenly for the full three minutes. Marquez landed a nice three punch combination in the middle of it but I think Pacquaio was a little more succcessful. 10-9 Pac He needs a knockout.

ROUND 10 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ Close round in the tenth. Not as open and crazy as the previous round but fun nonetheless. Pac gets caught by a Marquez shot and suffers a cut. He immediately informs his corner. He doesn't like it very much. Close round but I'll go with Marquez. 10-9 Marquez.

ROUND 9 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ This fight is picking up the pace and turning into something special. Pacquiao has upped his aggression and forcing it into a firefight. Marquez nails him a couple of time but Pacs aggression has got him this round on my card. 10-9 Pac 6-3 marquez

ROUND 8 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ A less eventful round than the last one and a lot more even to but it seems Marquez is having a lot easier time finding Pac than the other way around. Pac really needs to try something different as he is coasting to a loss here. Marquez 10=9

ROUND 7 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ This is heading closer and closer to upset town. Marquez lands two booming right hands in this round as well as some nice combinations. Pacquiao is opening up a bit more but still a marquez round. 10-9 marquwe

ROUND 6 – PACQUIAO vs MARQUEZ Pac--Man is picking it up now. Marquez got some shots in but he's getting a bit wild at times which is giving Pac the openings to get back in the fight 10-9 Pac 58-56
