FC Tokyo vs Brisbane Roar: ACL live scores

By The Roar / Editor

A new era at Brisbane Roar begins tonight with new boss Rado Vidosic at the helm as his side travel to meet FC Tokyo, with anything but a win ensuring elimination. We’ll have live scores from 8.30pm AEST.

Last time these two sides met, the football on show was much the same as Brisbane Roar fans were used to seeing at Suncorp Stadium – controlled, flowing passing football with one side dominating possession.

But it was the Roar doing the chasing, rather than the dictating like they have done for near on two years.

In a competition where all A-League fans were eager to see how the Roar would fare against stronger opposition, they have failed dismally.

They have managed a meagre two points from four games and sit six points off second, and only a minor miracle would see them progress from here.

Still, there is plenty of interest with long-term assistant Rado Vidosic taking over from Ange Postecoglou. Vidosic has been credited with designing much of the Roar’s training drills behind the scenes that have cultivated the aesthetically-beautiful football they consistently produce on the park.

With the pressure off they may very well come out here and get a result, but they’ll have to be at their best. FC Tokyo were extremely impressive in Brisbane and if they are able to keep the ball like they did there, they’ll most likely win again.

Can the Roar get Rado’s reign off to the right start with a win? Find out as we cover live scores from 8.30pm AEST.

Full time in Tokyo with the home team winning 4-2. Brisbane can't make the last 16 now and will have to learn from this experience for their 2013 ACL campaign.

89 minutes and still 4-2. Brisbane have put in a much better attacking performance tonight but couldn't back that up in defence.

Some days they are called inside, other days outside. Penalty isnt the issue, in my opinion, its our defence being caught on our heels - we look a yard or two off the pace in that area.

Yes. Far more attractive then the Adelaide game. Brisbane need to score at least 3 more goals and concede none to still be in with a chance. Should also add that it's actually very wet. Constant heavy rain throughout the first half.

The ref could have given it on the edge of the box. Probably 80% outside and 20% inside. Technically that's enough I suppose.

HALF TIME: FC TOKYO 3-2 BRISBANE ROAR 4' Berisha 5' Takahashi 20' Mukuhara 33' Broich 44' Watanabe (P) Despite the wet conditions, very attractive, flowing game of football up there in Japan. Brisbane have been able to get plenty of the ball but not being able to penetrate. Vidosic will be concerned about those defensive frailties, I'd say.
