A new era at Brisbane Roar begins tonight with new boss Rado Vidosic at the helm as his side travel to meet FC Tokyo, with anything but a win ensuring elimination. We’ll have live scores from 8.30pm AEST.
Last time these two sides met, the football on show was much the same as Brisbane Roar fans were used to seeing at Suncorp Stadium – controlled, flowing passing football with one side dominating possession.
But it was the Roar doing the chasing, rather than the dictating like they have done for near on two years.
In a competition where all A-League fans were eager to see how the Roar would fare against stronger opposition, they have failed dismally.
They have managed a meagre two points from four games and sit six points off second, and only a minor miracle would see them progress from here.
Still, there is plenty of interest with long-term assistant Rado Vidosic taking over from Ange Postecoglou. Vidosic has been credited with designing much of the Roar’s training drills behind the scenes that have cultivated the aesthetically-beautiful football they consistently produce on the park.
With the pressure off they may very well come out here and get a result, but they’ll have to be at their best. FC Tokyo were extremely impressive in Brisbane and if they are able to keep the ball like they did there, they’ll most likely win again.
Can the Roar get Rado’s reign off to the right start with a win? Find out as we cover live scores from 8.30pm AEST.
