Brisbane Heat vs Perth Scorchers: Big Bash League live scores

By Suneer Chowdhary / Roar Guru

After a day’s break, the teams are back in action in the Big Bash League and the tenth match will be played on Tuesday between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers at the Gabba.

We’ll bring you the live scores of the action throughout this game, with the match starting tonight at 7.30pm AEDT.

Perth Scorchers are back in action only two days after their last match on Sunday, and will be the first to play four games.

They finally managed to get on the winning board last game and are second from bottom on the points table. Brisbane Heat have not been doing much better, although they have played only two matches so far and are sixth on the table. A win for either side will lift them into the top three for the time being.

Scorchers beat defending champions Sydney Sixers in their third game after losing the first two.

A strong bowling performance helped them restrict the opposition to a below-par score before the batsmen chased down 114 with ease in the final over.

Captain Simon Katich finally had something to cheer about and will be urging his players to keep the intensity levels high. Herschelle Gibbs’ return to form is a welcome sign for visitors as well.

Shaun Marsh and Marcus North also played valuable knocks around Gibbs and it would augur well if they can build on that.

Overseas pacer Alfonso Thomas picked up two wickets and he is expected to shoulder most of the bowling responsibilities.

Brisbane Heat did not start well in the competition when they lost to the Hobart Hurricanes but defeated Adelaide Strikers in their second match on Thursday.

Set a daunting 186 to chase, Heat reached the total off the final delivery in an exhilarating finish with Luke Pomersbach crafting a very useful 65 runs off just 39 balls.

Dan Christian and Thisara Perera’s presence in the batting order provides further boost to the line-up.

In fact, Perera, the Sri Lankan all-rounder, made useful contribution with the ball though picking up three economical wickets but skipper James Hopes will have more expectations from likes of Christian and Alister McDermott. three wickets came at an expensive economy of 12 runs per over.

We will bring you the live coverage throughout the game from the MCG and hope to receive your opinions as the action unfolds.

The Scorchers look to have bounced back off the canvas. After that disastrous tour of South Africa, the injury toll, the loss to the Strikers and then being humiliated by the Stars, they were in big trouble. But two gutsy away wins against the Sixers and now the Heat showed a lot of character.
