Western Sydney Wanderers will be looking to erase the disappointment of their draw at Perth last weekend when they host Melbourne Victory tonight. We’ll have live scores from 6.15pm AEDT.
It was a hiccup that Western Sydney Wanderers coach Tony Popovic really didn’t need.
After rolling to victories over Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide, the red and black half of Sydney looked like making it four on the bounce before a late Nick Ward goal meant the Wanderers would head across the Nullabor with one point instead of three.
Tonight they face another genuine contender in Melbourne Victory, who arrive in Sydney having beaten Newcastle Jets 3-2 in a pulsating encounter at AAMI Park.
Ange Postecoglou continues to drive the Victory toward the top of the A-League ladder and with Central Coast and Adelaide stumbling over the festive season, Melbourne are firming as genuine title contenders.
They’ll be stronger tonight with the return of Adrian Leijer, who comes back into the starting lineup after serving his one-match suspension, but the Victory will still be without Mark Milligan.
For the Wanderers, Aaron Mooy will miss with his own suspension, while Tahj Minniecon and Adam D’Apuzzo also are likely to be unavailable with injuries.
It’s third and fourth up against each other tonight, and as match of the round this one could be a cracker, and any result is possible.

Well it could have been more. Nix keeper kept a couple out with some great work. Will take the 3 points and some comfort that roar looked to be going forwards more often but the nix allowed them heaps of space even before they went to ten men. Thought nichols looked lazy out there tonite with a lot of walking maybe too much pudding.

The fact McGilchrist didn't realise at first that it was the second yellow is a bit more ... hmm.

@striker It was my biggest concern from Day 1. I actually think it will be quicker. By this time next season, WSW & MVFC will be neck & neck competing for "biggest football club in Australia". Exactly what our League needed.

Two great saves at either end to deny goals.

Simon Hill did say in the telecast that today marks 7 years since Australia moved to Asia back in 2006. How appropriate that a Japanese player had an impact

Well brisbane had the early running with broich putting berisha thru on some beautiful balls. nix come back with some physical play and scored a cracker. suncorp crowd ready to take the ref' s new xmas whistle off him. Brisbane looking to get forward earlier but still lacking a bit of understanding at times. whoever comes out hungrier will win it.
