Sri Lanka will look to notch up their first win on tour but things will not get any easier against an inexperienced but hungry Australian side in the second ODI.
We’ll bring you the live coverage of the action throughout the second ODI at Adelaide Oval from 2.20pm AEST on January 13.
It was a convincing win first up for Australia with Sri Lanka taking home only another injury to their wicket-keeper, necessitating a change in their line-up.
Dinesh Chandimal and Tillakaratne Dilshan were the two who came out with their heads held high but the former ended up with a strained hamstring and could miss this one.
With Sri Lanka continue to struggle with the bat in their hand, this comes as a body blow given how he has trumped the other batsmen in the line-up in the limited opportunities he got. Kushal Perera will make it to the side if he fails to recover from that injury.
Given how poorly Sri Lanka bowled, they will also look to change things around and Rangana Herath could be in line to make it to the playing 11.
More importantly, they will hope for Lasith Malinga to get his mojo back, one that helped him end the Big Bash League as the top wicket-taker when he ended his commitments there.
Australia had Phil Hughes star for them in the first game with a record-breaking century that saw him become the first Aussie to make one on debut. George Bailey and David Hussey chipped in with highly aggressive half-centuries that took the game beyond the tourists.
The other new-comers Aaron Finch and Usman Khawaja got out early but will look to add to the Sri Lankan misery in this second game.
Mitchell Starc’s calf issue puts him in the ever-burgeoning list of injured Australian bowlers this summer and one of Ben Cutting or Kane Richardson will get a chance in his place. The rest of the side should remain the same.
We will bring you the live score throughout the game from the Adelaide Oval and hope to receive your opinions as the action unfolds.

You clearly didn't watch the match. It was overcast for most of Australia's innings. Between 2pm and sunset at 7pm there was about 1 hour of actual direct sunlight ... hardly 'baking' of the pitch.

Good to see some very patriotic support there.

Do you know what moisture does to a pitch? Sun = heat = drying/baking. I though it was pretty easy to understand....

Maxwell's bowling was terrible. The notion that he is good enough for the test side as an allrounder is laughable, he isn't even good enough for an ODI side as a part-time bowler.

I don't think Finch is being given any more chances either - Warner is due to return for Friday's match at the Gabba. I wouldn't be suprised to see Shaun Marsh called back in either - the NSP is throwing darts at a corkboard for selection, why bother to pay any of them.

Pretty sure the ICC qualification is four years out of international cricket for other nations when you switch. Might be shorter for Pakistan since he has heritage there.

Australia lost 10 wickets, 3hrs later Sri Lanka lost 1. Given it was already 2pm when they started, it's not like a bit of afternoon sun turned it from a nightmare to batters paradise.

Khawaja should seriously consider heading across the Tasman. Lord knows the Black Caps could use some talent at this point. Bugger the NSP!

3+ hours of the sun baking and drying out the pitch. You reckon that has no affect? Please......

Pardon my cynicism but a loss by Sri Lanka in Adelaide to this Aussie side would have destroyed rest of series........am I jumping at corporate shadows?

Taylor's commentating is usually very good but with Khawaja its been terrible, I am not sure if it has to do with Khawaja leaving NSW but he doesn't give him credit where its due. Surely he should have played today and everytime a commentator bought this up Taylor would quickly change the subject.

They would've justified keeping Maxwell because of the 2 run-outs he effected.. I too was gobsmacked when I heard Smith was there in place of Ussie. Insane. I think Smith and Maxwell both proved they need more batting AND bowling practice before representing the country. I'm willing to give Finch another shot because todays pitch was troublesome. Hussey running himself out was painful, he is my new favourite now his brother has retired. Perhaps the selectors will recall Mike Hussey now? :P

How is picking him for one more game and dropping him of he fails "giving him a go"? He deserves an extended run like Hughes is getting, and Finch, and Maxwell etc

Hard to see Doherty and Richardson as Aussie bowlers at international level. Richardson's action, if he can't sort it out quickly will destroy his knees in a very short time. Doherty just wasn't challenging the batsmen at any time.

Suneer I don't think this is the way to treat one of the best young batsman in the country, i can only hope that we pick him for the next game and if he fails then drop him, but give him a fair go.

You've got that straight, I don't like him. Nothing else needs to be said. Wade should be in the team, but I guess while we are playing the B team so it's ok to go backward and put unneeded pressure on a young player, or take a spot off a Hartley or Nevill. At least the NSP is looking forward by picking the pensioner.

Yes I don't think his non selection is race related but still very dissapointing to see him miss out. Very jn fair treatment

Nice way to win. SL demolished in match one, Australia trounced in match two. I wonder what drivel Invers will serve up when Khawaja is left out of the next squad (announcement tomorrow morning apparently).
