Sydney FC supporters, have some faith

By Andy / Roar Rookie

All I read on Twitter during the game Sunday night against the Melbourne Heart was people putting Sydney FC and their performance down.

They won 2-1 and yet not many seemed to be happy until well after an hour when the positive feedback seemed to grow a bit.

Before then it was mostly things like, “The performance wasn’t good enough.” “The win just covers the cracks.” “They’re still sh*t.”

This isn’t what Sydney needs, especially from their fans. Now I’m not going to say that it was the best performance, because they made some sloppy play. But some of the play was amazing.

Del Piero’s cross to seal the winner was spectacular; world-class. Their last 10 minutes were pretty damn good. They showed the fight, the courage and the will to win. And they have been getting better every game.

‏Last week Sydney came back twice to draw 2-2 with Perth. A good result for the team showing they still have the potential and the fight in them to compete in the A-League.

They backed that up with Sunday night’s 2-1 win over the Heart. You can’t say, “@SydneyFC you are the worst team I have seen playing in the @ALeague in a long time” when they draw against Perth and picked up a win the following week.

And then I saw a tweet that surprised me because it came from someone I know is a pretty loyal supporter: “Emerton, Fabio and Adam Griffiths, I think you guys need to reacquaint yourselves with the transfer market.”

Now I’m pretty sure one of these guys scored the equaliser against the Heart. I mean, sure, Emerton hasn’t been playing the full 90 minutes at his potential, but he still shows often enough what he can do. And that isn’t what Sydney need anyway.

Sydney needs stability within the club to help sort out its problems. Not, “They need to sell everyone and get a new squad totally, with a decent coach (Arnold) #SYDvMH,” as one tweeter stated.

Sydney needs the support of its fans now more than ever. They need the encouragement and some positive engagement, something that makes the coach and players happy. Tell them they are doing something right.

And I think winning is doing something right, so congratulate them for it and give some positive criticism and not foul abuse. That won’t help your club get back to the top.

One person tweeted something that I half agree with” “Sydney winning cannot mask the huge problems they have.” That is true, we should not forget that Sydney FC still have problems, but them winning can help put them back on the right track.

It should show Sydney supporters that their club still can win. That their club is starting to change for the better. That the people inside the club are starting to do things right.

Hopefully next Saturday Sydney supporters will turn up to cheer their team on, believing that they might have it in them to beat Wellington. Something that I believe they can.

I would love to see a crowd above 20,000 at that match. A sea of sky blue singing and chanting would be amazing. This could be the comeback of Sydney FC.

Now Sydney supporters, it’s up to you. Are you going to embrace your club and help keep their momentum going? Are you going to turn up in your tens of thousands to support your club against Wellington Phoenix next week? Well, I hope you do!

Sydney players are too lazy as evident tonight when the Roar score their first goal because the right fullback was too slow to move up the offside line.

QASF, Actually, those rules are all pretty much the same for any team playing in any code.

All it has really shown Garcia, is that Sydney can support multiple teams, while Melbourne will do well to support one.

Wrong MVFC supporter you know the club that has held this league up in terms of attendances, support and passion. Well that was until this season with the introduction of a real team in Sydney, we have seen that there was a large passionate untapped population base for football. Now we don't have to carry the burden of being the only large group of active passionate supporters in the A-league alone. Went to the last game Melbourne Victory played up at the Gold Coast when your "active supporters" held the 'FFA SAVE GCU' banner. Have to say I haven't seen a more pathetic sight in the A-league and that includes the 6-0 grand final victory over Adelaide.

Striker----glad you have now discovered what the difference is between the two words 'cents and sense' all you now have to do is learn the difference between 'herd and heard'.. And finally, you have come out of the closet and aligned yourself with WSW... I would hate to think I support a team that would have you as a member of my club :D Using words like cancer describing a Football Club is well below the belt... but then again you are a WSW supporter I am not surprised..

kellett_1992----Yes it is true Frank Lowy wanted Clive Palmer to dump GCU to take on the WSW franchise long ago when he was complaining how the HAL was being handled by Ben Buckley and refused point blank---also he was asked to take on the Roar when they were owner-less, but told them he would continue on with GCU...

Nothing to do with GCU, if you look above it is a response to an attack on SFC---of its so called $20 loss. Just to bring you up to speed I was born in Sydney played all my football there at grass roots to semi pro. I have always had a soft spot for SFC even when I supported GCU. I am back with SFC as a supporter and I make no apologies for defending the SFC club against WSW's fan base abuse... Of course you have no Idea what you have written or why you wrote it being an AR's troll, you no nothing about me, or the football people who come to the defence of SFC; go back to the AFL tab...

The acerbic jealousy that QSAF's spouts about WSW is pretty laughable. GCU didn't work out - get over it.

Qantas well there not gonna rush and give West Sydney to people like clive palmer thats was a big mistake, the best thing the FFA done was to bring them in and get rid of the cancer that Gold Coast was not matter how much it may coast, i am sure they will have no problems getting one as they are a fanstastic addition to the league.

As long as the club - keeps getting 10k crowds, - has a reasonable ground deal, - doesnt piss the budget up against a wall with overpriced marquee players - or overpriced coaching staff, and If the salary cap is held down as the new TV money comes in, then The annual losses should be right about zero.

So how much will the FFA lose on WSW with no owner in sight yet? What will happen if there's no owner forth coming for WSW..? Even sea barnacles that latch onto a blue whale will eventually kill it... It can't go on forever...
