Gareth Bale is the next big thing

By Harsh Sinha / Roar Guru

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the top names in world football at the moment and there is not a single player who can challenge them. Well wait, did I say not even a single player?

The lad hails from Wales, is just 23 years old, and his recent form has helped his side annihilate almost every club in England. His name is Gareth Bale and he is a man to watch out for.

This talent started his career with Southampton, earning acclaim as a ‘free kick’ specialist. Tottenham Hotspur signed him in 2007 and since then he has become a force to be reckoned with.

Before discussing his stats and style of play, let’s have some opinion about him from respected people of his profession:

“He made me feel an inch tall. Took me to pieces. He just doesn’t stop running. It’s ridiculous.” – Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

“He’s an amazing, amazing talent and he’s after the Ronaldos and Messis of this world and he’s getting better and better. He’s almost unplayable when he’s on his game. He is a genuine world-class player. There’s nobody he couldn’t play for. He’d improve any team.” – Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp.

Bale has scored more than 50 goals for Tottenham, of which 23 have come this season. He has scored eight goals in his last six appearances, with an average of 1.3 goals per match.

This shows that the opposition has to score at least a goal against Tottenham in order to salvage a point.

He scored a match winning goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford to seal a huge win for his side this season.

He scored his first hat trick in a 4-0 away win over Aston Villa on 26th December, 2012. He then rescued a point against Norwich just four days later and was again on the score sheet against West Bromwich Albion.

His recent game against Lyon in London during the Europa League saw him score two sensational free kicks in the 45th and 90th minute of the match.

Most recently, Bale scored two goals against West Ham with the second, in the 90th minute of the game, from 30 yards out.

Gareth Bale’s success has not only helped his side realise their team objectives but has also given Europe’s two dominant powers, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, a chance to prove their financial mettle.

The Los Blancos unit have already started claiming that Bale is coming to Spain next season. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola, who will take charge of Munich next season, has made it clear to Madrid they are also alive in the transfer bid.

The initial bid looks set to commence at a whopping 60 million Euros and as far as Cristiano Ronaldo’s world record transfer fee of 80 million Euros is concerned, Bale might just be very close to it.

With widespread popularity and the ability to strike when it matters most, the Welsh international is undoubtedly the next big thing in football.

Bale’s success in the future depends on his next side – Madrid or Munich. When a star player can receive global recognition and a world class tag playing for Spurs, imagine what is bound to happen when he steps out for a global powerhouse.

Gareth Bale wants to be one of the very best in world. He will never come to Sydney FC but join Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

Gareth Bale's childhood hero Ryan Giggs holds the ace to bring his fellow welshman on the plate to Sir Alex at Old Trafford. I agree Gareth Bale has had one good season for Spurs, and a £50m transfer fee does not make any sense but, Bale in the past few months must have shown Sir Alex enough improvement in his all round play to convince the (glaziers) to folk out the funds. Its not going to be easy, especially with Mr Levy, but it all comes down to money and what Bale wants!

Fergie would get his man (Bale) this time if he wants him. Gareth Bale's boyhood hero Ryan Giggs, will have a big role into convincing Bale to fill his shoes at the theatre of dreams. It would be impossible for Bale not to replace legend Giggs and play alongside Rvp and Wayne Rooney. Gareth Bale could achieve all he wants playing here in the Epl, why does he want to go Madrid after seeing former team mate Luka Modric failing and starting most games on the Real bench. Finally, Bale does not owe anything to the Spurs supporters apart from a big thanks and wishing them all the best, because apart from this season he has not really set White Hart Lane on fireworks and is no way a Spurs legend after one good season!

He is too young for Sydney FC's long term plans. Sad sad club...

its aimed at anyone who spends money they dont have. At this stage, sure they wont exclude Real or any other club who has debts from the UCL. just hope one day they get tougher and serious about it.

Plattini's FairPlay rants are mostly aimed at the English Premier League. There's no way he'd exclude Real Madrid for the Champions League

The only thing Bale would bring to a bigger club would be his mastery of simulation.

If Real can match other offers, then yes, the agreement they have would favour them. But unless they sell Ronaldo or someone else, I don't see how they can do this. They have a huge debt and am not sure UEFA would accept this as Platini has always made it clear financial fair play was important to him.

Spurs have all ways been a selling club. Sir Alex Ferguson managed to poach Carrick and Berbatov from Spurs. Madrid nabbed Modric and will most likely get Bale.

I doubt Barcelona would want Bale. Barcelona's game is about passing and movement. Bale's game is to run on to long balls. He would fit in a Real Madrid where they play the fast counter attacking brand of football

Then he needs to get to a club that will give him what some consider more important(at least in terms of football on the park) an European Champions League medal. Will he get it at Spurs highly doubtful, will he get it at Bayern,Real Madrid or Barcelona, good chance he will.

Yeah Johnno, I'm sure Sydney FC have $60 million in loose change under their mattresses to bid for Bale.

Wow. Shows how ridiculous club football has become if one of the top teams in the EPL is considered to be a feeder club.

With Cristiano likely to return to Man Utd in the summer, Bale would be a likely replacement. Then we'll see if a bully in a small team, like his pal Modric was, or if he's truly the real deal.
