AFL State of Origin: NSW/ACT (part III)

By Ash Lemson / Roar Rookie

My series continues looking at the hypothetical line-ups from the AFL State of Origin. These sides have the biggest population to choose from, yet it is much harder than Western Australia to find players.

In rugby heartland, here are the best NSW/ACT players.

Taylor Walker and Tom Hawkins come together in a star studded forward line to take big marks and kick goals, if it falls on the floor Luke Bruest and Ben McGlynn can also score.

Swans galore: there are Sydney players everywhere, Roberts Thomson down back, Kieran Jack and Jarrad McVeigh in the centre and McGlynn up forward.

No wonder the Swans are the premiers.

The line-up
Coach: John Longmuir
FB: Lewis Roberts Thomson, Phil Davis, Brent Staker
HB: Matt Suckling, Sam Gilbert, Dean Terlich
C: Isaac Smith, Lenny Hayes, Dylan Addison
HF: Luke Bruest, Tom Hawkins, Ben Mcglynn
FF: Adam Schneider, Taylor Walker, Justin Koschitzke
Foll: Hamish Macintosh, Jarrad McVeigh (c), Kieran Jack
Int: Daniel Cross, Taylor Duryea, Dane Rampe, Craig Bird (sub)

Would probably chuck out Kosi too. Would much rather Pyke for a third tall (if the team needed one at all) Other than him, that fwd line looks fearsome!

Given that Jimmy Stynes played for Victoria I think it's reasonable to replace Kosi with Mike Pyke in this side.

Good team but I think you meant Longmire as coach - as in RL the assistant coaches have to be NSW greats to get the feeling of history and pride, - Paul Kelly, Wayne Carey, Danihers....

Don't agree with that side. LRT would be at fullback and Davis at centre half back, Bird on the wing and Schnieder and Cross out of the side for Townsend and Miles. Very good young footballers those two.
