Canberra winger Sandor Earl is reportedly under investigation by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) following allegations he was treated with peptides at a private clinic without the knowledge of his former club Penrith during the 2011 NRL season.
The Nine Network has reported that Earl is being probed following claims he was treated with peptides at a clinic in Cabramatta in Sydney’s southwest.
There is ongoing debate as to whether peptides were on the list of banned substances by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Nine says Earl has obtained legal representation, with the news coming as ASADA continues its investigation into the use of banned substances in the NRL and AFL.
A Canberra spokesman said the club was unaware of the allegations until Thursday evening and would not make any comment until the NRL has advised them further.
Penrith also said they were not aware of anything involving their former player, who left the club midway through last season to join the Raiders.

The thing that amazes me in all this ASADA drama,is why when investigations are ongoing, inhouse, and players are innocent until proven otherwise, that names are flushed out by some of the "moral giants"in the media. Regardless of any outcome, mud sticks. If any player is shown to be guilty of something an infraction notice will be issued by the cod';es admin not the media. If not and his name has been splashed all over the press, then its lawyers at 50 paces. As Rupert found out with the phone taps. The media has the conscience of a hyena.

Whenever we read a story like this, our first reaction should be to ask: 'Who released the information, and why?'. Throughout this whole process of ASADA investigating the AFL and NRL, there have been selective leaks, particularly to favoured journalists, that seem to favour ASADA. It would be very useful to know the source of the leaks and the motivation behind them.

So "peptides" hey? Peptides are, by definition, short sequences of a few amino acids and breakdown products of protein. Eat a steak and it is digested into peptides and finally individual amino acids. Some hormones / growth factors are also peptides, and although they represent a tiny subset, they have obvious implications for athletes trying to gain an un-natural advantage. So, which precise "peptides" are implicated here? This use by the media and ASADA and WADA of non-specific or non-scientific terms like "peptides" to try and spook the public or pump up their case is quite frustrating. Does this mean that eating any protein (Meat, fish, tofu) is a form of "taking peptides"?

Perhaps this is why 2 NRL clubs have let him go relatively easily. Brave of Channel nine as their spruiker and Penrith head honcho Gould has been saying there is nothing in the ASADA investigations
