Good riddance to the biff

By NF / Roar Guru

The over-reaction by league fans over the banning of the ‘biff’ shows how backwards thinking the code is at times.

Last week, referees’ boss Daniel Anderson announced that throwing punches will give the offender ten minutes in the bin.

The uproar against this decision has been strong.

There are many out there thinking a punch-up is good for the game, when it’s the complete opposite.

Those who actually like the code should admire it for the skill and talent that is on display not blatant thuggery that can at times erupt.

As the saying goes, play the ball not the man.

Rugby league is about getting the ball over the line, not punching someone in the face.

The fact there are those who think the ‘biff’ is necessary need to give themselves a good look in the mirror and ask themselves if they like rugby league.

Fighting is not necessary for rugby league to be successful

The game itself should sell itself without the need of the biff.

Time to move on from the dinosaur era and embrace modern age for once.

Rugby league you can do it, too bad some supporters can’t.

Head-butting and twisting legs to deliberately cause injury to opposition players is the real problem that needs to be addressed. Players like Cam Smith and Nate Myles have turned rugby league into an unsavory affair that is all about wrestling. Fighting has been in the game for years, and has never been a big problem.

Anderson did not annouce this, he said it was all ok. He aggreed that Galklen should not have been binned. He shood stand down, the game cant move forward with people like Anderson, who is nothing more than a fill-in as we have all seen by the way he backflips because he keeps making mistakes. Anyone who believes anderson knows what he is doing has no idea. The guy is a complete dill. The video refs are hopeless, the on-feild refs are sending everything to them, as if they can fix the problem, the problem is not having a captains challenge system. It was invented by thwe yanks 30 years ago, it works, they had the same problems our code had, but they solved the problem while our code conitniues to stick head in sand. The biff was not really the problem, it was the biff without cuase that started this rot. It was Gallens blantent attack on Myles that caused this issue to blow up, it would have blown up anyhow sooner or later, but Gallen has fast-tracked the inevitable. Punching players is not a good look, crowds are not growing, the thuggish behaviour, the players getting into the same trouble plus the fact NSW deressing room went oldschool on the drink has further caused damge to the code, just like Gallens protessing every second he gets continues to cause damage. Please Gals, let it go, your wrong, nobody beileives your stupid ideas of compliments and lack of regret. As the AFL world was saying, you should have be banned the rest of the year, forget the 10 minutes. I agree, the amount of lost progress, the 10 of millions in revienue lost because of Gallens actions is a reason to ban hiom, he is still sprouting rubbish morals in which nobody sensible is buying, please pull your head in Gallen, for the sake of the code.

We live along a redneck frontier where the dream to be twenty one is a moral imperative. With a mentality like that is it any surprise that some bemoan the infringement against their puberty?

At last an article on this on the Roar that makes sense. I was beginning to think there was some conspiracy around here trying to brain wash people into thinking the Biff is a good thing. Some of the things I have read this last two days are nothing short of irrational mumblings.

cant see why there is such a problem, there are not many fights these day in the NRL and i was always under the impression that fighting (ie striking) was always not allowed and resulting in suspensions
