A pitch intrusion by a naked streaker on ANZ Stadium has spoiled State of Origin, with the streaker falling into the thick of the action and causing a certain Queensland attack to be ruled no try.
The streaker burst onto the field sometime in the 77th minute, and ran up the pitch, stumbling into the action with security in fluorescent jackets attempting to run him down.
With Queensland attacking the Blues line and a certain try on the cards, the disruption caused defender Ryan Hoffman to fall into the mass of security who had run on to the field to stop the streaker.
While Hoffman appeared to make the most of the opportunity to be obstructed, and while Matt Scott crossed the line for the Maroons, the video referee deemed the play to be no try.
Greg Inglis responded to the incident after the game, saying “It’s a pity that fools like that ruin a great game like Origin.”
It took one person in the 83,813 strong crowd to attempt to deny Queensland, but not even a fat naked streaker could stop the Maroons juggernaut, winning the final game of the series to win the eight match on the trot.
The streaker ran some 95m on the field before falling on his face – his alcohol fuel seemingly running low.

Watching from Papua New Guinea its not only spoiled the game but also afraid if that streaker was a terrorist. What happened to the securities? As a maroons supporter I nearly loose my players.

Exactly. What are they going to do, fingerprint scan everyone who comes to every ground in the country?

It's the rules, obvious obstruction. Blatantly in the middle of the play. If anybody was at a disadvantage it would of been the fact QLD got another full set of six when the incident occurred on the last. But that's the rule in place so they have to go by it, doesn't happen too often.

Bias???? All the refs calls were spot on

The streaker, I thought it was NSW ploy not to be beaten by certain 8 points...what a shame, bcoz that's what we all QLD supporters think. But how can Hoffman throw himself on the ground. Go to the replay box those think he would have made the tackle. QLD been denied certain 6 points right. Well look towards title # 9 in 2014

Thanks roarsome. I haven't actually paid attention to the rulings when streakers were involved before. Appreciate the help.

The rule is the team with the territorial advantage will have loose head and feed at the scrum, it's an unforeseen scenario and it is like if the referee impacts play. Surprised Cameron Smith knows the rule. Aha

This is how a Queenslander deals with streakers....... We don't try falling over them. Hoffman - what a pussy. Even Gus Gould was embarrassed by his dive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTWOk6slU_Y&sns=em

I wonder how they could ever really enforce that.
