The Roar Origin 3 special: Ryan and Brett’s player rankings

By Ryan O'Connell / Expert

Brett McKay and Ryan O’Connell – Ryan very begrudgingly – have climbed back into the Cheap Seats for the Game 3 State of Origin Special.

Recorded in the aftermath of Queensland’s 12-10 win in Sydney, securing their eighth consecutive series win, the boys give their view on the big plays in the game, the major talking points, and a complete set of player rating for both teams (in which Ryan attempts to break the rules).

I'm from PNG and I was very disappointed with the results because I'm a true fan of NSW Blues...NSW just gave silly penalties that lead to simple tries and 2 points from a maloney shoulder charged on JT..But I want to take this time to congratulate the The Mighty Maroons for their 8 in a row series win..

NSW will never dump Pearce... Haven't you worked it out by now-He is Wayne Pearce's son-It has always been about politics and not the best players!!!!!!!!

PEARCE MUST BE DUMPED HE IS SIMPLY NOT UP TO ORIGIN LEVEL. HAYNE MUST ALWAYS BE FIRST CHOICE FIVE EIGHT HE'S MADE FOR ORIGIN & HE WILL DELIVER.

he is the look of a spoiled brat. the way he spoke to the ref was such poor sports. he gave away the penalty against slater and seemed to be in no apologetic. yes he is a monster and hard to take down but he still has a lot of improvement to go

24 tackles in 80 minutes is hardly a great work rate, only ran for 88 metres. papalli could have done with some more game time. parker a far better player than mcqueen

corey parker is the new ash harrison but a lot better. For the full 80 minutes the work load of Mcqueen was quite low, less than 30 tackles, look at that compared to his skipper and farah

Well I saw myself what Smith contributed to the game and he taught him (Farah) a football lesson ie Tutor vs pupil Smith is a genius....

Farah was ordinary!!!!! What was Gallen doing running on the field at the end of the game with a spray tan?

If you've listened to the podcast, I give my explanation in there, and I stand by it. I thought Farah was one of NSW's best. You can pick out his faults if you want, I based my ratings on what he did well, just as have for all players. It's not about reputation at all, it's what I saw myself.

Generally because Bird is usually the one doing all the tackling ! He was still outstanding last night. As was Watmough who should have started the game instead of slow poke Woods and the Blues might have got up !

There has not much been said about Meesta Gallen missing from the game, The NSW pack were excellent without him and the penalty count gave an indication that his leadership was missing. -- A great game that either side could have won, Roll on 2014.

Well I just think..SOMETIMES..commentators, like yourself, who I stress are completely entitled to their own opinion, perhaps rate a players reputation rather then what they did on the field in a particular game..actualy it can work in reverse where you expect more from a player and then devalue his contribution..nonetheless Farah had a pretty ineffectual game last night. A defensive lapse for the first try, took some wrong options in attack..and my biggest criticism of him is his tendency to go for the selfish hero big play like the Hail Mary kick at the end where the Blues stil had time to set for something (exactly like last years game 3 with only minutes to spare running up the blind and dropping instead of centering it and setting for field goal!) Ayway Origin is all over for another year..it's premiership time!!!

Made the least tackles of the Qld forwards though, Scott. Made less than Gillett did off the bench in fact..
