Time for Parra to send Hayne to the doghouse

By Hossey / Roar Guru

The Parramatta Eels can’t win without Jarryd Hayne. Perhaps they should let him take the big money on offer at the Bulldogs and learn how.

Jarryd is an exceptional player, there is no doubt about that. I have fond memories of watching him put the rest of his side on his back in the second half of 2009 and carry them all the way to a grand final fairytale.

The only problem is the team apparently set up camp on one of Hayne’s vertebrae and never stopped making him lug them around.

It has been reported Hayne is being offered something in the area of seven figures by Canterbury, as the Bankstown boys know that buying is easier than breeding.

That kind of money would be irresponsible for Parramatta to try and match, which they would need to at least try to do if Jarryd is entertaining the thought of linking up with Belmore.

Corey Norman, a ball-playing fullback or five-eighth, is on his way on a big money deal.

Will Hopoate, who can fill any jersey one through five but would be all but wasted unless he is playing fullback, is also set to join the blue and gold for big bucks.

Chris Sandow is on half a million dollars and on his day can be a spectacular half.

Justin Hunt has been signed from the Rabbitohs who will also be coveting the number one jersey.

That is a whole lot of money to tie up in only a couple of positions when the side is struggling across the park.

Maybe it wouldn’t be so crazy to let Jarryd go. A spine of Hopoate, Norman, Sandow and the incoming Nathan Peats is a big improvement on recent seasons, and there is more than half a million dollars left in the kitty to spend elsewhere.

Most importantly of all, it offers Parramatta the opportunity to finally attain the clean slate they have been searching for; to jump off the back of Hayne and allow their attacking success to be the responsibility of more than just one man.

The Eels are desperate for a fresh start and desperate times call for desperate measures. Letting Hayne go might seem like a drastic decision, and it is.

But although the hurting isn’t quite yet over for Parramatta, the healing may begin a lot quicker without Hayne.

How about we exchange 2 Burgess brothers for Jarryd Hayne........Luke and Harpo..... You need a couple of forwards....Rabbitohs need a match winner....done deal!! Does it not occur to the staff at Parramatta, when you lose a good player, you have to replace him with a good player? And if your team is coming last , you maybe have to get more good players than you lost! Just look at Manly and the Roosters.........they have never worried about buying the players who will win the premiership..... And Melbourne Storm....have no choice.....get with it Parra!!!!

i think if anyone needs to be looked at its the roosters. barba and halatau have left so it frees up around half a mil. The cap is increasing for 2014 season and then in 2015 they will bring in the marquee player. remember that inu and perrett only signed cheap contracts last year. The dogs have room to play with. I think its all bullsht though. The real target is will hopoate. He does have a get out clause in his contract with Parra......

Hey Billy hows things , and no bro I would never stand in the way of anybody net alone any player making more money but dude, check the cap at the doggies, by letting Barba go only freed up 350.000, Haynes on more then that im afraid..................you would have to let go one or two halves go to fit him in or do wat the doggies and storm have done before and cheat buddy...........................

Bought or bred, you do what you have to in order to win a premiership. That is the ultimate goal for every club. Go about it how ever you want.

Barfly, would you stand in his way. He could earn double his salary at the bulldogs. Money talks these days especially when players only have about 10 or so good years. An NRL club is a business and players have to look after their future financially.

thats not true at all. every club buys what they need at any certain time. The Bulldogs U20's have finished in the top 4 for 3 years running so we do have a strong junior base. Parra had plenty of their home grown juniors in 1st grade this year and it got them a wooden spoon. Im sure the parra fans expect some sort of stability and results. All the bulldogs are doing is building on a already strong side. Whats wrong with that. If parra could buy a premiership next season im sure they would.

MARK Im totally all for players being a 1 club player but if you look at the situation at parra its totally different to what the storm endured. If things dont change fast, parra look very likely to get another spoon next season or languish around the foot of the ladder. A player of Haynes quality should be challenging grand finals year in year out. An nrl players career is only short, to stand in his way of a million dollar a year contract wouldnt be fair.

Have you all finished, one parra have not only developed JH they also stuck by him whilst he re-covers year after f year from injurys, plz just because a player doesent win a GF doesent mean he runs like a f mutt and deserts the very club that made and supported them. Some players are the club they play for and sometimes by leaving does there careers worse, not better.

Parra fans have form. Haven't they burnt a grandstand down in the past. NRL needs a trade window. Swap players to strengthen a position where you're weak or trade off a player where you've got depth. Have a system where the player gets some sort of 'trade' bonus & relocation costs. virtually what the dogs & broncos did with Barba. you'd have one pre-season & one around the end of July when teams & players have an idea who is in or out of running for finals.

maybe Hoppa 1, hayne 6, peates 9. 7 - I dont think Sandow is the answer at 7. They shd have snapped up the very steady Kris Keating. Norman is over-rated

"as the Bankstown boys know that buying is easier than breeding." True yes, but the bulldogs have developed their fair share of very good players in recent history

Do they think high profile players would want to go to Paramatta. I would just be shocked and curious of Hayne was ever seen in a Bulldogs jersey. It is annoying how the dogs come out every time and basically say they are interested in every single player on the market, Have they not heard of a little thing called the salary cap?

We need Hayne. Another reason we got the spoon is because he actually missed quite a few rounds through injury. If Smith and Cronk can stay at the Storm after having their premierships taken off them after their board was rorting the cap behind their backs, I'm sure Hayne can stay loyal to the Eels and be a one club man. Smith even turned down massive offers from the Broncos, pretty sure Hayne will do the same and stay loyal to his club and fans, but this will boost his value a bit and parra should offer it to him, he is the best player we have had in a long time.

The thing is, say they get rid of Hayne and free up some money... do you think the EELS board know how to spend it?
