Channel Ten has announced that it has won the exclusive television rights to the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament 2013 in Australia.

All 23 matches will be screened live on Ten and One, as well as the Ten Sports website.

The tournament, which boats two Big Bash League (BBL) teams, the Perth Scorchers and the Brisbane Heat, has prize money of $6m up for grabs.

Channel Ten’s Head of Sport, David Barham said: “We are very pleased to be able to deliver live coverage of the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 2013.”

Ten, which recently won the rights for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, will pay $100m over five years to broadcast the BBL as well.

The company missed out on rights for the Australian Football League, the National Rugby League, the Melbourne Cup Spring Racing Carnival, the Australian Golf Masters Golf and the Australian Open in recent months.

Ten previously broadcasted the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament from 2008-2010.

The likes of Damien Fleming, Adam Gilchrist, former skipper Ricky Ponting, West Indies legend Sir Viv Richards will join their commentary team.

I did see the Perth scorchers games on Mon night and Wed night. Games 4 & 8 Them and Brisbane Heat are the only 2 Aussie teams playing and Brisbane have yet to win a game. Most of the other teams have at least 1 Aussie player in them. Scorchers play again in the 15th match but it is not listed in the current guide, 10 are obviously not showing EVERY match, ONYA CH 10!

10 and foxtel a waste of time. Today the Perth Scorchers play but 10 will place a gp car/bike race on instead. And their spare channels they repeat old tv shows and the bike/car race. What is the point in having all these extra channels if hey are not going to use them. 10's channel 1 is having a non Aussie team playing at 9:30pm. Why don't they show the Aussie sides/ This is really pathetic. And the tv networks wonder why 30% of the tv audience has move to tv over the internet which is live and up to date. The india times web site has the matches live in 720p. Full replays are on youtube

The Twenty-20 was suppose to be on network 10's one channel tonight and on ch 12 from 6:30pm Perth WA time. What was on was COPS. I take it some idiot decided not to telecast it ? What is going on. It was shown on TV a couple of nights ago but not the WA Scorchers game tonight. Thankfully full replayed games are on Youtube with only the one ad up front. Why isn't 10 doing the champions league as promised. In a download world they play a dangerous game by not telecasting it. Foxtel was going to telecast the twenty-20 match tonight as well but all that was on was rugby. As a result I'll cancel my foxtel subscription. What is the point in replying on tv stations or foxtel. I rarely watch tv any more. Youtube has become my main watching show on TV.
