Former Fremantle coach Mark Harvey has missed out on landing an AFL job at West Coast after the Eagles appointed Adrian Hickmott as their backline coach.
Hickmott, who has been with the club for the past two years as a development coach, is the last appointment in West Coast’s revamped coaching structure.
The former Geelong and Carlton utility joins Brady Rawlings and Justin Longmuir as senior assistants under new coach Adam Simpson, with dual Eagles premiership star Don Pyke performing the role of structure, stoppages and innovations coach.
Harvey, who worked as an assistant at Brisbane for the past two years, was keen to join West Coast’s revamped coaching structure.
The Essendon premiership defender may still move back to Perth, where his family remained following his shock axing from Fremantle at the end of 2011.
West Coast missed the finals last season, but Hickmott said the squad had the potential to rise back quickly.
“I am really looking forward to working with Adam and the other coaching staff. We have a terrific group of players and we are all committed to seeing the club rise up the ladder,” Hickmott said.

Suprised Longmuire kept his job.. Eagles forwards are always spoiling each other in the contest. Lost count of the times all their big men have flown at the same contest. None of them makes a dummy lead to drag out a defender, no one drops back into the square when the full forward leads out.. they all just leap for the big bomb to the square, they were pretty one dimensional in attack this year. Oh well, lets see.

Have to agree with Jorji, the guy is not a senior coach. Makes you wonder why he was shafted by Freo ?. A classic case of a nice guy coming last perhaps.
