Ferguson at Souths will be the missing piece in the puzzle

By Zee / Roar Guru

The recent rumours that have been circulating linking Blake Ferguson to the South Sydney Rabbitohs has got me all excited.

Yes, the man has his issues, but Michael Maguire would be the perfect man to get the best out of the talented centre.

Blake officially became a free agent in the middle October, and with his continued commitment to counselling and turning his life around, he is getting back on track.

With boxing and leading an alcohol-free life, this turnaround could be the ultimate factor in helping Blake become a new man.

Madge leads a very disciplined battalion at Souths.

Since his arrival the likes of Ben Te’o went on the record stating how Madge helped him turn into a man.

He has a very Sir Alex Ferguson management style, you earn his ire, and you will have to work triple times over to get back on his good side.

No one is bigger than the coach and this is the leader Blake Ferguson needs.

Despite all our opinions about his off-field indiscretions you can’t deny this man is ridiculously talented.

One big factor that denied Souths any glory this season was part of their back-line.

The Likes of Nathan Merritt and Dylan Farrell really don’t have an impact on matches the way Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Jorge Tafua have had on their sides.

Signing Blake will be in my opinion Souths final piece to their premiership puzzle.

And for Blake he will have great role models in Greg Inglis and Nathan Merrit to help steer him in a positive direction.

If Blake does Sign for Souths he will bring much needed speed, creativity, and a fresh new spark that they were screaming out for this season.

And with Souths bolstering their pack with the signing of Raiders front rower Joe Picker, hopefully Souths will add a little more green machine to their 2014 title hopes.

Shouldn't get Blake Ferguson because he icould be a lot of trouble. Anyway we have already got Goodwin, Reddy, Champion and Walker that can play Centre.

Sure can say the same about Carney. He was banished for a season & played for Atherton in Nth Qld. Fergie needs the same long break to get his act together He could even have his long break in the clink!

I dont think its fair to call him a cancer - He is a little boy who hasnt grown up and unless he meets the right mentor - never will.

A very risky signing if an article titled 'Ferguson the greater villain' in the Canberra Times is to be believed. It talks about Blake and Sandor Earl's bromance being so strong that they have the hashtag 'DORGUSON' inked on their skin and they always roomed together. Reports how Blake spat on patrons at a concert. About how the Raiders and the coach stood by him, spent money on his welfare, yet he let them down, and the coach was eventually sacked for it. It mentions about Blake being allegedly injured but instead of going to games to support his teammates he partied at Kings Cross. Then there was the alleged indecent assault where he allegedly groped a young girl he didn't know in front of her boyfriend which they say is caught on CCTV. He then refused to take calls from the coach and club and eventually the players demanded that he be sacked. A club would really have to be desperate to sign this bloke. Really really desperate. Not to mention all the baggage that comes with him like Mundine, the most hated man in Australian sport.

Thanks for your response Muzz. If you were just having a little fun I accept the fun of it. You're obviously not one of the people I should aim my displeasure at. Have a good day and look forward to your later banter

You try to be fair to other clubs, suggesting Souths deserve a premiership, congratulating SC for their success as I did etc but you always seem to get those with sour grapes and distorted views having a go at Manly. It all gets oh so tiresome Muzz. How about just enjoying the game and the excellent competition between fine athletes and let go of this ongoing baseless vendetta. I could argue just as much about various aspects of Souths and SC play, but I dont because I accept the final outcome. There is no great conspiracy assisting Manly here and in fact the poorly balanced junior comp, allowing some teams to have a huge number of juniors under their system while others struggle is proof of that.

You may be right....If you can bring yourself to watching the grand final again you may pick up that all 3 of Manly's tries had Question marks on them....The obvious being the penalty try, should of been a penalty and Orbison sent to the sin bin...Then take a look at the decoy run Horo makes in the other 2.Manly have been using the same play all year and have been pinned for obstruction on many occasions.First one-Horo takes Pearce out, Second one Horo runs into Guerra....So the score should of been Roosters 26-0 or if Hayne missed the Roosters forward try then Roosters 20-0....Manly have won 2 Premierships in the last 6 years so you may be onto something there champ.

I doubt that Manly would be interested, firstly because of the cost (they go for cost effective talented juniors or hard working underachieving journeymen these days) and because they are so intent upon the supportive culture of the players in the club. They wouldnt want a potentially disruptive element no matter how good they are...at least that what seems to be their agenda.

Yeah, but many got upgrades as well...Reynolds, Walker, Inglis (who takes % of salary cap increases), McQueen, George Burgess, and others. Plus, many of the existing contracts are back-ended. That's why so many players had to leave. Souths are walking a salary cap tightrope.

he might be a good fit as a player but he is not the type of person that any clubs needs around. even more so now that Mundine is telling him what to do no thanks - let him join the drunken union boys

Sutton has just about led our try assists for the last few years , he's not your traditional playmaker, but he does a good job of it , he's easily been up there with our best for the last few years we've actually been performing, I certainly not sold yet on Keary taking over the reigns and Reynolds form took a pretty good dive the last few rounds, I expect madge will end up pushing Keary to 5/8 and Sutton to lock but i hope its not a bad move.
