Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne Victory: A League live scores, blog

By Nigel Wakeley / Roar Guru

Tonight will be the first home match of the Phil Moss era on the Central Coast, as Melbourne Victory travels to Gosford for the first time since the 2012/13 semi final. Join us for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEDT.

Both teams are being managed by new coaches, with three A-League wins notched on the collective belt of Victory’s Kevin Muscat and the Mariners’ Phil Moss.

In the 2012/13 semi final, just over 10,000 fans came out to watch the Mariners earn a place in their fourth grand final with a 1-0 victory over the Victory, thanks to a Danny McBreen goal just before halftime.

The previous match-up, in Round 22 of the regular season, was a soggy affair which the Mariners dominated 6-2.

Melbourne will attempt to break a four-game losing streak to the Mariners and are in a good spot to do so.

They’ve got the second-highest scorer in the league (James Troisi, 5) and won a statement game against Adelaide last week, holding a 3-0 win despite being down to ten men for the entire second half. Keeper Nathan Coe is also in form, tied for first in the league with three clean sheets.

Last round the Mariners got a first win for Phil Moss, who took over after Graham Arnold departed suddenly for J-League outfit Vegalta Sendai.

An injury-time goal to Mitchell Duke coupled with an earlier strike from McGlinchey put them up 2-1.

The win took the Mariners to sixth place with nine points, with the caveat of having played one less game than most of the league.

Victory are sitting at fifth on the table with 11 points, and have managed to score the second-most goals in the league. Kevin Muscat, who was promoted after Ange Postecoglou secured the Socceroos job, has won two of five games in charge.

Join us on the Roar for live commentary and scores from 7.30pm AEST.

God help us when CC aren't the reigning champions. Was there some kind of crowd boycott or something?

I was watching the game in dribs and drabs and I thought the crowd turn-out was shocking-I think the sooner Mr Charlesworth pulls the plug the better

From what I saw, it took 90min for the game to really fire up and give the audience 3min of intensity. Refund $$

That was a killer for the A-League. A scoreless draw and empty seats galore...

Indeed. Central Coast on a Friday evening is suicide. Ridiculous.

It'll turn out like the AFL where the Free to Air game will have to be big club games to show off the competition. Overall viewers and attendances can only be negatively impacted by matches like that.

Even though CCM were flat if McBreen had been flagged onside like he should've the Mariners would have been 1-0 up

FULLTIME Melbourne Victory 0 - 0 Central Coast Mariners Watched by a crowd of just less than 6,000, the Mariners were able to give new coach Phil Moss a point in his first home match. Credit to Moss for stopping most of the damage down the flanks, although it was at the expense of any attacking options. Share your thoughts on the game!

From BRI v. WSW to this... At least the Roar are playing next week to show how good A-League can actually be.

FULLTIME Melbourne Victory 0 - 0 Central Coast Mariners It's all over! Undoubtedly Melbourne deserved the three points, but Reddy and Sainsbury held on for the home side to take a point.

90+3' Melbourne Victory 0 - 0 Central Coast Mariners Rose looks back post for McBreen, who goes for an audacious bicycle kick which he misses. Sainsbury blocks a chance down the other end, and the referee will end it!

90+3' Melbourne Victory 0 - 0 Central Coast Mariners Final chances now! Troisi has the ball in the box but his first touch is too heavy! He looks very tired!
