Warner: A man in form, on and off the field

The past few months have been an exceptional turnaround for David Warner. Up at the Gabba he looked like a player on form, belting the ball through the covers, punching the ball down the ground and playing breathtaking strokes square of the wicket.

It was his first innings which drew me to realise how good the form is that he is displaying. Unfortunately he missed out on a big score, departing for 49.

It was his ability and determination to capitalise in the second innings, however, which was the most pleasing aspect. He batted with particular patience, compiling an innings of 124.

This should come as no surprise seeing he has been consistently troubling scorers around the country in the lead up to the first Test.

Since mid-October in both long-form and limited overs cricket, Warner has made notable scores of 139, 138, 197, 104, 51* and 52. That is six scores of 50 or more out of twelve innings.

To score runs in the domestic competitions is one thing, but to be amongst the runs in an Ashes Test match is certainly no mean feat.

Many believe that his successes at the wicket can be attributed to his recent romance with Candice Falzon, a current professional Australian Iron Woman.

It is the dear hope of all Australians that Warner is able to continue this vein of form in the second Ashes Test when it kicks off at the Adelaide Oval.
