It’s finally here – Superbowl XLVIII for the 2013/14 season between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks is ready to rumble and we’ll be bringing you all the action from the opening kick at 10:30am AEDT. Join in all the fun!
The number one offence in the NFL takes on the number one defence in what is shaping up to be one of the best Super Bowl match-ups in recent memory.
Future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning has the chance to truly define his NFL legacy as one of the greatest ever to play the game in his third ever Super Bowl over his sixteen year career.
Manning didn’t just get the 13-3 Denver Broncos to their seventh Super Bowl, he did it by creating the greatest offence the NFL has ever seen.
With his truly dangerous arsenal of weapons, including receivers Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker, tight end Julius Thomas and running back Knowshon Moreno, Manning’s offence looks almost unstoppable this season.
It’s fitting then that they take on the one team in the NFL built to stop a high-powered passing offence like that of the Broncos in the (also) 13-3 Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks number one ranked defence has been monstrous over the course of the season, in no small part due to their lethal secondary.
Cornerback Richard Sherman along with safeties Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor give the Seahawks a physical, ball-hawking presence that’s nearly impossible to beat.
Coupled with an impressive running attack thanks to Marshawn Lynch and the play-extending magic of second-year quarterback Russell Wilson, the Seahawks are perfectly suited to grind out a win by dominating time of possession.
The Broncos will look to stop the Seahawks from running the ball and get an early lead, forcing Seattle to play outside of their strengths.
Likewise the Seahawks will hope their strong defensive front four will be able to pressure Manning without the blitz, giving the secondary all the help it needs bottling up the Broncos’ many weapons.
You can check out a full preview of the game here.
Let’s get to it!

No they didn't ... the best two faced off in the Superbowl. Just because the game was close doesn't mean it reflects the season. Panthers were not far off the 49rs... even more so with the Packers... were they also better than the Bronco's? Seahawks turned up ... Broncos didnt.

Agree with 7 but then I think manning won't care about that as they are the same fools that think Eli has better claim to "best qb". Despite his 16 best games not equating to meanings season. The better team won and people can't simultaneously believe in the virtue of defence and qbs win superbowls. It was a performance that rests on the shoulders of everyone, the opening snap, the fumbles, the killer penalties and perhaps a really good showing by the better team? The broncos will be fine so long as they don't do anything rash, given elway's been through worse I'm sure he won't hit the panic button.

As someone who started barracking for the SeaChickens when Moon was QB, I thought it was a decent to good game of footy.

I can't tell if you're saying the superbowl wasn't entertaining, or if you're saying it was REALLY entertaining, and you're just into some very weird stuff.

Watched Superbowl 48 today and was bored to death by this rout: for entertainment value it vied with having an enema

Friends have departed after such a one-sided Superbowl. It happens...Denver just couldn't handle the Seahawks defensive pressure and Wilson played better than expected to keep Seattle moving. Apart from the result, the biggest disappointment was ONE's abrupt termination of the telecast. When the clock struck 2pm, the plug was pulled. No interviews, no presentation, nothing ...just Omnisport!!! ONE had done such a great job all season and right through the playoffs. Pity they left the fans hanging at the end.

Are you the same guy who wrote this? "Outside of the US, the only people that are interested in this turgid garbage are weird yankophiles and grown men who have never seen a naked lady that was not on their computer monitor." Mate, I'm not trying to pick a fight, but why do you keep watching American Football?

Agree any number of the defenders could have won it, I don't think Smith is a starter, rotates in so that is phenomenal he won it.

My takeaways are, 1. The Seahawks defence is seriously great, just as good as the 2001 Ravens imo, to shut down the Broncos offence was epic 2. The Seahawks offence played really well and wore down a tired Broncos D, how much did they miss Von Miller ? 3. The early safety was a distasterous start which they never came back from 4. Percy harvin was worth giving up the draft picks 5. It was men against boys 6. Manning just can't throw that pass which Smith took to the house, he should have taken the sack, still only 15-0 7. Manning's legacy will be tarnished unfairly by this loss 8. Can the Broncos bounce back from this utter flogging 9. Russell Wilson has now acomplished what Ben Rothlisberger and Tom Brady have, won a ring in just their second season 10. Pete Carroll now joins Jimmy Johnson as the only coach to win a College National Championship and a Superbowl

Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith is the Super Bowl MVP. Honestly, they could have given it to any one of the Seahawks defenders. They all did their part in dominating the Broncos O.

Unless you're a Seahawks fan, sure. But it is interesting to see that defences once again come out on top in the biggest game.

It certainly was a masterclass. I still can't get my head around it.

Pretty boring match. And Peyton's legacy just took a shellacking.

Seahawks :D Such a ruthless and thrilling performance, shame my Patriots aren't on the podium this year, but this side is definitely a special one. They produced an NFL masterclass on the biggest stage.
