[VIDEO] Manly Sea Eagles vs Canterbury Bulldogs: NRL live scores, blog, highlights

By Alan / Roar Guru

The Manly Sea Eagles are coming off a heavy defeat and need to improve tenfold if they hope to beat the in-form Canterbury Bulldogs. Join us for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEST.

Manly failed to turn up against Brisbane last week, going down convincingly 36-10 at Suncorp Stadium. Despite missing Anthony Watmough, Glenn Stewart and Daly Cherry-Evans through injury, Manly still had a side capable of challenging the Broncos.

It was Brisbane however, minus Justin Hodges, who blew Manly off the park, playing an up-tempo game for the full 80 minutes against a Sea Eagles side that had no answers.

It was the Sea Eagles worst performance of the season and they will be keen to get back on track at home against competition leaders the Bulldogs.

Canterbury are coming off a bye and approach tonight’s match against Manly missing two of their best players through injury and suspension. Josh Morris and Josh Reynolds are both out and their absence could prove telling against a Manly outfit welcoming Cherry-Evans back.

Apart from a first-round collapse to Melbourne, the Sea Eagles haven’t lost a game at Brookvale and generally fire at home. The Bulldogs though will be no pushovers though. Their defence has been outstanding and they will be primed for an arm wrestle. With Reynolds and Morris missing however, they may lack the firepower needed to beat the Sea Eagles.

A lot of pressure will be placed on Trent Hodkinson’s shoulders and if he fails to fire, the Bulldogs may struggle to penetrate Manly’s defence.

At home, the Sea Eagles should get back to winning ways, but only if they improve significantly on last week’s poor effort against Brisbane.

Manly by 12.

jamesb is spot on mate. Brookvale is the biggest dump in rugby league..... manly are coming equal first and can't crack 10,000 - absolute joke. There average would be the worst in the NRL if it wasn't for Canberra.

Well done manly great effort and such great tries. Fatsiano should get atleast two weeks for that right at his knee.. tisk tisk tisk. Also I found it funny how sterling said foran plays like reynolds. Well I say this Reynolds trys to play like foran he bases his game around the same strengths. Also reynolds was a hooker before des came to belmore so I think I win. Good game good result.

Commentators said numerous times that the rest of Sydney didn't get any rain during the day. The Peninsular copped a downpour. That's probably why Pirtek looked a bit better than Brookvale.

Dogs halves were woeful and were meant to come back from origin as better players.Daley was at the game and would be very concerned after that performance. Could be time they installed some drainage under that 3rd world ground.Worlds best rugby league competition and they were playing in mud.Player welfare definitely compromised playing on grounds like that.Watching the Eels v Cows game at Pirtek and the ground looks pristine.

Manly we'll deserved win but, for 1 v 3 which may be the grand final, you would expect the scores to be a bit closer. I'm a bulldogs fan and it sucks to see the dog lose but manly out played us tonight. Good rough game! Only thing I disagree is kasiano on report for a good tackle on cherry Evans? And even Tafua on report for sliding in with the knees? Both are garbage calls and should of been let off

79' - Very good win for Manly. I thought they were in trouble after trailing six nil. The Bulldogs were well on top but Cherry-Evans came to life and instigated a Manly onslaught that saw them score three tries in a row. That set up the win. Second half saw Stewart come to the fore as well, scoring two tries off Foran kicks. Manly bounced back very well tonight after a poor showing against Brisbane. Canterbury with their second loss on the trot. FULLTIME Manly 32 Canterbury 10

77' - Bulldogs on the attack. Time will beat them though. Second straight defeat for Canterbury. Stanley breaks the tackle but is short of the line! Manly defending well. Reynolds goes crossfield. Knock on. Manly get the changeover. Manly 32 Canterbury 10

No1 vs No 3 and only 9235 people show up? That's an absolutely shambolic crowd figure for a game of this magnitude
