Te'o faces one-match NRL suspension

By News / Wire

South Sydney forward Ben Te’o is facing another stint on the sidelines after being charged by the NRL over a lifting tackle in Monday night’s win over Canberra.

Te’o was on Tuesday charged with a grade one dangerous throw on the Raiders’ Jarrod Croker at GIO Stadium.

It was Te’o’s first game back since a one-match ban for a late hit on NSW and Canterbury star Trent Hodkinson in State of Origin III.

Even with an early guilty plea, carry-over points from prior offences means he will miss Sunday’s match against Newcastle.

He risks a two-game suspension if he unsuccessfully fights the charge.

Either way, it will be a huge blow for Rabbitohs, who could also be without Sam Burgess and skipper John Sutton for a chunk of the remaining six rounds.

Rugby-bound Burgess is due to have scans on his right shoulder and Sutton on his knee following injuries during the Raiders clash.

The only other player charged from round 20’s matches, Cronulla’s Matt Prior, is also set to miss a week after being cited for a grade-one dangerous throw in Saturday’s surprise victory over Penrith.

Teo is what I describe as a careless tackler.Call it accidental; or deliberate,it's been the same old style for as long as I can remember. Will he be lost ,should he move offshore? I doubt it..

Agreed, I dislike his constant grubby niggling. Since the banning of the biff, which is ok, it is more annoying than ever to see this type of player, pushing the envelope, knowing that low acts cannot be sorted out on the field...

Teo gave away 4 penalties from 7, Madge needs to have a serious talk to him.

Without Burgess, Sutton and Te'o Souths maybe hard pressed to win another game this season. At best they may hobble into 7th or 8th Canterbury need a miracle to finish top 4 but need BOTH Josh's fit and firing.(Bloody Origin) Easts minus SBW may be a problem. The Storm are about to set their spinnaker...look out I hope for the sake of RL that the Warriors make it... depends on Johnson Like every other season injuries and suspensions play a big part in the final result. You don't have to be an expert to see Manly as premiers 2014

Not just this game. It has been in his game all year. Maybe he will use the Darius defence and get off?

Te'o was a bit grubby in this game, imo his mind is elsewhere.I may be wrong but isn't he heading into the unknown next year.
