Adelaide Crows vs St Kilda Saints: AFL live scores, blog

By Josh / Expert

The Adelaide Crows are officially playing for pride when they take on the St Kilda Saints at home on Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 3:20pm (AEST).

The Crows are in questionable form, having played well but fallen short against Richmond and North Melbourne in the past two weeks.

They’re now left ruing those losses, with Richmond’s storming finish to the season seeing the Tigers snatch eighth spot, meaning today is the Crows’ last match.

St Kilda on the other hand are a team desperately waiting for the year to end, depleted by injury and having won just one of their last sixteen matches. A win in this match would see them dodge the wooden spoon, but it looks unlikely.

The Crows have won the last three in a row against the Saints, including an 86-point smashing away from home in Round 4 earlier this year.

Rory Laird is set to miss with concussion for the Crows, while Charlie Cameron, Luke Thompson and Matthew Wright have all been omitted. Sam Kerridge, Brent Reilly, David Mackay and Matt Crouch all return to the side.

The Saints have recalled James Gwilt and Dylan Roberton, with Tom Curren and Sam Gilbert to miss.

Prediction:
Adelaide should win this one comfortably, but with their finals chances snuffed out, will they have the desire?

Adelaide by 60 points.

What a disgrace channel 7 Brisbane is. Five seconds after the siren they cut the coverage leaving any fans wanting to hear a final wrap of Lenny's great career left watching myth busters. The AFL needs to ensure whoever has the television rights has the respect and greater interest of the game at heart rather than just selling their soul to the highest bidder. If you want to grow the game in the northern states having some respect and consideration for a champion of the game such as Lenny Hayes is not too much to ask. The AFL should be sending a please explain to channel 7 Brisbane and an apology to Saints and Footy fans in QLD

Thanks to all who've joined me for live blogs this year! More than 400,000 clicks, not a bad haul, not bad at all. It's been a hell of a ride. Looking forward to hopefully covering a few finals matches too. See you in September!

A very comfortable win for the Crows in the end. They'll finish tenth on the ladder but will have a bit to happy about as they look to 2014. The Saints on the other hand sink to their first spoon since 2000, and their 27th as a club over all. We saw a lot - Rory Sloane had 30 touches and 3 goals in a milestone 100th game, Ben Rutten finished his career with a goal off his last kick. Lenny Hayes laid no less than 13 tackles and jumped to the most career tackles of all time. Both teams now farewell their retiring champs, and turn to the 2015 season.

GOAL ADELAIDE Now that's a teammate! Eddie Betts marks, has the chance to slot his sixth goal, but instead he handballs it off the retiree Ben Rutten, and Rutten dashes into to slot a goal. The Crows rush from all over the field to mob him and celebrate. Just wonderful! ADELAIDE 22.9.141 ST KILDA 9.8.62

Definitely be Eagles ninth at this rate, the Crows needed roughly a 120 point win to overtake.

I think this will be a two way race between Adelaide and west coast for 9th place. Hope that the Eagles finish 9th.
