EPLextra episode 12: Eight is great if you’re a Saint

By EPLextra / Roar Rookie

It’s not every week you get eight goals scored against a Premier league team, but unfortunately for Sunderland fans, they decided to help their opponents out.

In this week’s episode of EPLextra the panel cover the thrashings as well as the close run games, including:

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Add your comment below using the template (see comments section for an example):
The good: the best player/ team performance of the round
The bad: the worst performance of the weekend
The ugly: something from the weekend’s games that stood out

Surprised no one is covering the UCL this morning. Bayern put on one of the great European performances this morning and Schalke won in injury time in controversial circumstances. Chelsea and Barca cruised to win but City were held at an empty stadium in Moscow after being up 2-0.

Yeah it's a tale of 2 Dutchmen trying to rebuild their teams, one who has spent an absolute fortune on some big names (and one youngster) and the other who has bought good players from lesser known leagues for a fraction of the price. I think there is a lesson there that maybe the biggest leagues are overpriced, Balotelli cost twice as much as Pelle even though he scored at half the rate last year and had all this baggage just because he came from Italy instead of Holland.

Wow! what's that paying $500/1? like I said I wouldn't be surprised if the vultures are circling because we are always a stepping stone, if we can keep up the pressure through the new year then the players might think even with big offers we can still make Europe here, hope your gamble pays off.

I don't have much hope for my United either but praying for the best. Would love to see Southampton make the top 4.

Arsenal looking like they won't even make the four at the moment. Defending has been tragic the last few seasons.

The good: Aguero's 4, Southampton's 8 and goals goals goals in injury time. The bad: Arsenal's injury crisis in week 8...not again! The ugly: Zero points for the dives that helped Chelsea and Stoke get the wins.

It's not every day that I would say I'm concerned about turning 20 million pounds worth of investment into 60 million in a few months but if Tadic and Pelle keep this up then the other clubs with their open cheque books will come a knocking again. I can't believe that someone could exceed what Pochettino did last year but this is unbelievable, last season it took till round 10 for Southampton to score a goal from open play now we have 19 in 8 games while keeping the best defense in the league (5 goals conceded). Can we dare to believe Europa could be within our grasp or will reality hit especially if players (and the manager) are approached.

The good: Dusan Tadic ripping Sunderland to Shreds with a goal and 4 assists, man of the week for me. The bad: Evidently Sunderland, don't quite think one can escape that absolute mauling The ugly: The Referee in the City - Spurs match seemed to have an absolute shocking time.
