Hayne Plane touches down in LA

Jarryd Hayne has touched down in Los Angeles to begin his NFL adventure, but the former rugby league star was coy about what clubs may be pursuing him.

The 26-year-old said his immediate priority was to get some rest and shake off the jetlag.

In a few days the dual Dally M medallist will begin a training regime in LA to shed weight and add speed to get him ready for workouts with NFL clubs.

He used the long flight from Sydney to LA, via Honolulu, to read NFL play books.

“What I do the next 24 or 48 hours will lay the foundation for what happens the next two or three weeks,” Hayne told reporters at Los Angeles international airport.

There were reports Hayne had six NFL clubs interested in working him out and he had been invited to meet NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Hayne declined to comment on the reports.

“There’s a lot of speculation and I just want to remain focused on why I’m here,” he said.

One of the keys to Hayne’s plan will be signing with a US agent who can arrange workouts with NFL teams.

Hayne said he has a short-list, but his Australian manager Wayne Beavis was helping with that.

“We haven’t signed anything yet,” Hayne said.

“We definitely have a couple and my manager back in Australia wants to make sure he gets the right person to look after me.”

A media pack of Australian reporters was waiting for Hayne when he touched down at the busy LA Airport.

Excited passengers and onlookers wondered if he was a Hollywood celebrity, but were disappointed to hear he was an Australian footballer. He may be an unknown in the US for now, but Hayne said he was surprised and impressed with the support from people in Australia.

“It has really blown me away,” he said. “I never realised the reaction of the Australian public would be so generous. “I’m excited to venture on this journey, it’s going to be a tough road but I’m looking forward to it.”

Can't wait to read how he came to choose between a blue and black helmet for his first private training session...

Glad to see so many people are over this garbage as I am. The whole thing has been blown way out of proportion, which will do Jarryd's ego no harm. Let's be real - he had two good years out of the last 6. 2009 and 2014. People seem to forget the "Hayne Plane" went MIA for much of 2010 and beyond. If he fails at the NFL and comes back to Parra, watch him sqeal if Parra decides to reduce the value of his next contract.

Boys Don't trivialize this important issue - no-one has asked his view on Ebola, Syria, Ukraine, Gough Whitlam but it wont be long. Seven is reporting he hasn't guaranteed to go back to Parramatta if he doesn't succeed...hmm now that is newsworthy
