Rooster Nu'uausala cleared after pub fracas

By News / Wire

Sydney Roosters forward Frank-Paul Nu’uausala has been cleared of any wrong-doing following an assault at a Sydney hotel last weekend.

The NRL club issued a statement on Wednesday night saying it had been informed by the Rose Bay Local Area Command that Nu’uausala had no case to answer.

Nu’uausala was at a Double Bay pub on Sunday morning when his friend, Mulinuu Unasa, punched another patron, Christopher Downey.

Downey said “Roosters suck” to Nu’uausala before Unasa punched him in the face and broke his nose.

Unasa pleaded guilty at Waverley Local Court on Monday to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He will be sentenced in December.

League has the worst media covering it than of any other sport in Australia. Just so negative all the time. Even on the Roar the AAP stuff is often negative twist but the AAP stuff on AFL, cricket & Aleague is just about the sport & none of that sensationalist negative spin that follows NRL everywhere. I think the NRL media just think it is all good harmless fun treating the game as a free kick. Sadly NRL.com has failed to live up to the hype of being like AFL.com too.

Always the case ch9 (the so called " home "of the NRL) had a lead story on this guy being involved in the punchup at the Double Bay(an old fave of mine) pub. I await til hell freezes over, the same Tv station noting he was not involved and has been cleared. Journalism in the media,is it any wonder people compare it to 2nd hand car salesmen.

I see there was no lead news stories last night 'clearing' FPN based on the facts. However, they were quite happy to run with the story as a lead last weekend with no facts. Quality journalism.

What do muppets like Chris ( dropkick ) Downey expect to happen to them after offering up statements like that ... He should be on public nuisance charges.
