The Roar's Wallaby form team: Round 1

By PeterK / Roar Guru

Following my player ratings of all the Australian’s from the first round of Super Rugby action I have recorded the scores that you have given each player and the scores are in.

The following is your Wallaby Form Team after Round 1

1 Scott Sio
2 Tatafu Polotau-Nau
3 Sekope Kepu
4 Lopeti Timani
5 Luke Jones (also lineout caller)
6 Angus Cottrell
7 David Pocock
8 Ben McCalman
9 Nic White
10 Matt Toomua
11 Joe Tomane
12 Christian Lealiifano (also the goal kicker)
13 Tevita Kuridrani
14 Rob Horne
15 Israel Folau

Next round I will repeat the process, The Roar posters submit your scores and I will compile them. I will add them to this weeks round and the accumulative form team will be posted.

If you decide to do a rudimentary breakdown by province and believe one team has too few or too many players I would like to hear who you would like to replace them.

I know what you mean. it's a tough one; you want to acknowledge how good some of those guys were because they operated spectacularly as a unit but at the same time there were other blokes who may have had a better individual game. McCalman was far and away best on ground for me.

No the Force played well as a cohesive team, no superstars. The back row was the best of the round although Pocock as a solo deserves his spot. It's a good team PeterK, thanks for the series. I look forward to it unfolding through the season.

What did McMahon do wrong except cop a rubbish yellow card. May as well play touch Rugby before long if that was a dangerous tackle. Crusaders V Rebels game not the same as Waratahs Force game. Different tactics all together.

G'day Browny, Agree with what you say bout the Force. In saying that I'd choose the three from the Force backrowers as they combine and play well together as a unit. So Cottrel, Alcock, Benny Mac. Pocock deserves a special mention though and would be a great run on off the bench. Still shaking my head at the MOTM given to Hooper last weekend.

I can't fault your selections PK. From mind that's pretty much on the money. I may have been tempted to pick Sean McMahon at #6, but getting the yellow hurt his chances I guess.

Brumbies front row better.....perhaps TPN held his own, but Mann Rea was everywhere around the park and was solid in line outs. Brumbies front row also contributed far more at set piece (especially rolling maul), than the. Tahs did.

Sweet i will have a crack, I agree i dont think that many Force players apart from the ones you put in deserved it either.

English bombed a try early in the game with a poor pass. Otherwise he played well. If not for the bombed try I would have given more than 7.

cheers, I will :) Yup, the Brumbies front row played like their backrow. Whilst scrumaging well. Tahs front row, did not. White's nutmeg was cool, but the game was already won by then. Stirzys stamping was not cool, but was a potent attacking cog for the Rebs attack and win. Reds lineout was pretty bad. Fardy Carter Arnold and Man Rae did the job. English, I think the Crusaders would have notice him: - 3 LBs, 3 DB, 2nd only to Stirzy on metres run - Wasnt noticed by others because he didnt score two tries. - Rebs tries were through the middlle.

Pretty good representation there, Peter. With the lack of Force players there, I dont think you're being unfair there. The Force had 3 players (in my eyes) who were outsanding, the back row, and everyone else was solid. The difference between the Tahs and the force was that the Tahs had a couple of players play well, notably in positions where I'd argue other players from other teams didnt particularly excel this week, while the rest was pretty much garbage whereas the Force combined well and were vastly better across the park as a team. (insert 'champion team' cliched phrase here) Aside from Kerevi, no one from Reds deserved a mention this week. Hopefully that's not the case come Monday. No complaints with CL getting the 12 over him at this stage, hard to deny anyone in that Brumbies back line really. Jones and Timani definitely the form locks of the week. Not bad for a blindside flanker and an 8.... Hopefully get a few more Rebels make the list next week after a win tomorrow! *touch wood*

I think for the Tahs, beet players were Hooper Folau Horne Pocock over Hoops by a Whisker. Folau over others. Horne 2nd to English.

Stirzy did have a good game and he scored close to white by people, I imagine the yellow hurt him. English did have a good game but interestingly not 1 person gave him a score > 7. I imagine you would replace Horne so you have less tahs in the team :)

Markus not that special, did not score a try or set one up. I do agree if he gets more ball he should make the team, he is the best oz winger.

agree you should submit scores, do it next week. So you really thought Mann-Rea had a better game than TPN and Alexnader than Kepu? The reds scrum and lineout were ok, or you just looking at general play and ignoring set pieces? I imagine Stirzy getting a yellow hurt him. Interesting no one gave a positive score for english.

To be fair, Speight did do something special every time he touched the ball, it's just that that was only about twice in the entire game. Once the ball comes his way more often I have no doubt he will show the same form as last year.

Great work PeterK, glad to see you are filling your new found time with something useful! Keep these coming mate, and I second the idea of the cumulative list in addition to the weekly form list. Re the list, not too many arguments at all. Speight deserves to is out as he was quiet, and Coleman is unlucky although very much outclassed (I do have a soft spot for the prince of Queanbeyan though). otherwise it's Brumbies backs across the board, long may it remain!

This is a good initiative, Peter. Ah now its clear why you mentioned about not taking negative scores I think more people should vote - including me! Generally speaking, should be a Brumbies front row. -Flip a coin for Fardy vs Cottrel. -English over Horne -Stirzy over White

Correct Harry, Moore is a necessity if we want to entertain any ideas of pinching Bill for a third time. I think we have Wales' number, but it's definitely the England game that worries me the most. Injury free in key positions and I would back us to take out the pool, but things drop off quickly in some positions, and we have not yet got a settled halves pairing which also concerns me.
