Fruean fracture rocks Crusaders

By News / Wire

The Crusaders’ stuttering start to the Super Rugby season received another blow after confirmation that wing Robbie Fruean fractured his arm during Saturday’s loss to the Chiefs.

An x-ray has confirmed Fruean fractured his right arm during last night’s 40-16 defeat in Hamilton, and he is scheduled to see a specialist on Monday.

The Chiefs scored five tries to one, the bonus-point win lifting them to the top of the Super Rugby standings alongside the Hurricanes.

The Crusaders have one win, a 26-20 victory over the Highlanders last week, after they opened their account with a shock 20-10 loss to the Rebels.

They have a bye next week, before lining up against the Lions in Christchurch on March 14.

Losing Macilai was huge. Was a brilliant young winger with a huge rookie season ahead of him. Now unfortunately McNicholl has a free ride.

Nadolo will make a massive difference as he done last year. I think the Crusaders will be the Canes and Chiefs best friends this year knocking off some of the other teams fighting for that top 6 and bending over for the Canes and Chiefs when they meet.

They have always looked pretty average in the backs last couple of years, their forwards are world class but that wont save them this year, without NADOLO and FRUEN the rest are too small and dont get over the advantage line..CRUSADERS are in for more smashings this year....
