#MCGsobig goes nuts on Twitter, because the MCG is very big

By The Roar / Editor

New Zealand have given the world many great things, many of which Australia has taken credit for. Russell Crowe, Phar Lap, the current World Cup quarter finalists.

But today it gave the cricketing world a simple but effective description of the Melbourne Cricket Ground – #MCGsobig.

In no time it was going crazy in the Twittersphere, with everyone telling everyone else just how big the MCG actually is.

So strap yourself in, because through these tweets you will find facts you never knew about how big the MCG actually is.

We’ll keep updating this post with the best of the tweets throughout the day.

Even New Zealand cricketers got in on the act.

And the NSW state election is somehow relevant.

The hashtag drew online acclaim from bedridden sickie-chuckers the world over.

Then those two clowns from the Cheap Seats Podcast went and ruined all the fun…

MCG so big so the kiwis can hide all our scaffold under our noses. Now have to find out what they are going to do with it. Russell Crowe bought the Bunnies out of their burrow after 41 years. I think he may have started something that won't stop for a few more years.

#mcgsobig you can fit the Rugby World Cup, RL 4 Nations, Bledisloe Cup, Tri Nations and Chappel-Hadlee...and still have room for one more.

If you are going to put an aerial MCG pic in article completely related to Cricket (that to a world cup final), then please put a pic in which Cricket is taking place, not AFL.....

and you do know the straight boundaries in Wellington are bigger than the MCG, where NZ has won something like 10 on the trot? Far too much being made of it but the tweets are funny

That's brilliant Kane. On a serious note: is it really big enough to house such a rampant entity?

After tonight I think it's Aus who struggled with poor shots to the boundaries. I mean how many were caught....short.

If that little boy Smith can hit a six in Australia, then I think we are just fine.

Unless the MCG boundary starts at Cake Tin roof level, I think we'll be OK.
