[VIDEO] Sydney Swans vs GWS Giants, highlights: AFL live scores, blog

By Jake Rosengarten / Roar Guru

There’s nothing like a derby! The Sydney Swans host the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Battle of the Bridge, with one side set to suffer their first defeat of the campaign. Join The Roar from 4:35pm (AEST) to find out which.

If you want to get involved in the conversation, feel free to leave a comment in the section below with your thoughts on the game.

In the short history of the Sydney derby there has never been one quite as important as this.

The Swans are clear favourites, and why shouldn’t they be? Coming off a marvellous 48-point victory over the fancied Port Power in Adelaide, John Longmire’s boys will think that nothing can stop them.

However, their newish neighbours are also in cracking form, after coming from 30 points down at halftime to destroy the Demons by 45 in Canberra.

Before chalking the Swans up for an easy victory in their first game at the SCG for 2015, cast your mind back to Round 1 2014, where the Giants pulled off a stunning upset.

The Giants’ midfielders have been rampant this campaign, while Jeremy Cameron has rediscovered his goal-scoring touch, and is joined by Cam McCarthy in averaging three goals a match so far this season.

The elements are there, but can the GWS youngsters stand up against a much more experienced Swans outfit, which can afford to start a double Brownlow medallist in the substitutes vest?

Each one of the last four games between the two sides have been decided by 30 points or more, with three going the way of the Swans, and one to their neighbours.

Prediction: Sydney Swans by 24.

FULLTIME AT THE SCG! It's a 21 point home victory to the undefeated Sydney Swans. Final score: SYDNEY SWANS 16.15 111 def GWS Giants 12.18 90. A brave fight from the Giants who went down swinging. The Swans were simply the better team on the day. A few moments of absolute brilliance from last years runners up. Lance Franklin and Isaac Heeney combined well for 9 goals between them.

Straight off the bounce, GWS win it and send it down to the forward line. It's picked up by Jeremy Cameron who snaps a goal with less than a minute on the clock. One at the start and one at the finish for the big man. SYD 16.15 111 GWS 12.18 90

Two and a half minutes left on the clock. The Sydney Swans have won this game. The margin will make it seem closer than it was, but credit to the Giants, they've put up an admirable fight.

Callan Ward is pushed in the back by Laidler as he looked to release towards goal. He'll get the shot again. It's from right up on the boundary line. He's slotted it magnificently! Great kick from Ward! One for the highlights reel! SYD 15.15 105 GWS 11.18 86

Sydney have used their sub Isaac Heeney pops the vest on and he is replaced by Dean Towers. Not a bad effort from the youngster with an afternoon's work of 4 goals straight.

DOWN THE OTHER END, HEENEY KICKS HIS FOURTH! He's been absolutely creamed in the process. Buddy handballs it over the top to the youngster who kicked it from point blank range whilst colliding with the goalpost. He'll be sore in the morning. That's his fourth goal! SYD 15.13 103 GWS 10.16 76
