Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Main Event Australian start time, how to watch, and TV times

By The Roar / Editor

Coverage of the long-awaited bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao kicks off from 11:00am (AEST) on Sunday, May 3, first broadcasting the event undercard.

The appropriately dubbed ‘fight of the century’, will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas before a packed house and what is expected to be record-breaking pay-per-view television audiences.

What time will the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight start? The main event between ‘Money’ Mayweather and ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao is expected to take place following the ring walk at approximately 1:00pm (AEST). The fight will take place after that.

It could be later than that, and how long it takes for the fight to start once the two fighters are at the ring is guesswork. Anytime around 2pm is a conservative estimate. 12-round bouts like this generally last for around an hour, unless there’s a stoppage.

The only way to watch the fight in Australia will be via Foxtel’s premier pay-per-view channel, Main Event. Foxtel customers can order the fight for a one-off price of $59.95.

Foxtel IQ customers will be able to record the fight, however it will expire after a period of 24 hours from viewing (up to a maximum of 72 hours).

Of course, The Roar will be bringing you live coverage of the bout. You can follow a live blog of the bout from 11:00am (AEST) on Sunday.

Bout odds*:
Mayweather $1.46, Pacquiao $2.70

I think Mayweather has a very good chance at winning this, but i desperately want pacman to win. Mayweather is a big mouth cheap shot fighter. Yes he has skills, but so does pacman. I would like to see a round 2 knockout by Pacman and mayweather take his millions and shut up and disappear into retirement. If this was purely on the better person, not boxer, maywether wouldnt even be in the ring.

have a suspicion that the fight has been organised in a way to favor Mayweather (i,.e Kenny Bayliss) Manny needs a KO. Floyds shoulder-roll style makes for boring fights. Rather see Manny V Maidana, Manny V Matthyse. cant wait to see Canelo V Kirkland.

Pacquiao is almost the sole reason I've kept up with boxing over the last 7-8yrs but I really struggle to see how he can win this. His struggles vs Marquez show that he isn't great against counter punchers. Mayweather is arguably the greatest counter puncher of all time and dismantled Marquez in their only fight. I can't see Pacquiao out boxing him over 12 rounds. It would probably wouldn't be a bad idea to try brawling in the early rounds and see what damage he can cause. He might no longer have the knock out strength or the speed he once possessed but I'm sure he can still hurt Mayweather. Maidana tried it and got close, relatively speaking. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

It's hard to say at this stage Freddy. The lads will probably walk about somewhere between 1-2pm, maybe even later. How long they take to kick things off is anyone's guess.

Prepare to be disappointed. I am. I would put my house on Mayweather winning this, and nearly am. I honestly think it matters more to him, his whole image an ideal (rubbish and immoral as it is). Forman thinks that Mayweather will drop the first 5-6 and then not be able to win enough of the rest, but many other experts think Manny's only chance is a knockout. "Money" will lose the first two, maybe three, but dominate on points from there. If it goes to a decision Pac-man will lose, even if he didn't look like he did. I've never hoped to more wrong, though.

I've been searching the net all evening for info regarding approximate start time of the main bout. It's not on Main Events site, it's no where to be found on the WWW except here. Thanks so much for covering it. It should be a great fight - go Manny!

This will rank as the best sporting event of my life so far if Pacman shuts that a-holes mouth with humiliating knockout, costa zhu zab judah style. If its a draw I win 3k If Mayweather wins this will be a big disappointment.
