It’s been a great Super Rugby season so far, and the Lions and the Stormers are both right in the mix to remain alive in the 2015 competition.

This match promises to be one of the decisive ones for the season as we approach the finals.

Every score, every try, every kick, every goal is so important, and becomes moreso just two weeks from the knockout stages.

Last week, in a must-win encounter, the Lions were brilliant and you could tell from the moment they ran onto the ground they were ready to play.

Jaco Kriel was outstanding, and has been a catalyst for the Lion’s improved play late in the season, they will need him to again step up tonight in a big game.

Ruan Combrinck was more than a handful for the Waratahs and depending on where he plays he could battle the competition’s form player, Damian de Allende.

The Stormers are sitting comfortable atop the South African conference, but they will want to win this game to ensure they leave nothing to chance in making the finals.

With a strong win tonight the Lions could end the season as conference leaders, but would need the Stormers to lose next week, as the Lions have a bye.

Expect this game to be an entertaining affair, played as the equivalent of an elimination final.

Prediction
Both these sides have so much on the line tonight, and both are in terrific form, but the Stormers’ home ground advantage will see them get the job done.

Akira Ioane did something similar for the Blues v Force but only over 55 metres (reminded a lot of Ian Kirkpatrick!)... but he burnt of the Honey badger in that one. Both the Ioane's came through the NZ Sevens set up and have pace to burn.

Digger will be pleased to learn that Otere Black kicked the decisive penalty with 3 to go. I gotta find a streaming channel that shows all the U20 matches live ... anyone got any ideas?

Geez Akira Ioane just scored an incredible 80 metre individual try after a turnover in there own 22 ... The Blues need to sign this kid up until he retires!!!.. Then they need to negotiate with Reiko, his younger brother who NZ since up straight out of school to play for NZ Sevens.

Oh well, we can't be greedy, we have three in. No idea who plays who, the conference system is so lopsided.

So if the Stormers lose next week.. I believe it's possible that the 3rd conference leader will be ranked lower than the other 5 teams qualifying for the playoffs.

The 3 conference leaders qualify regardless of other results.
