[VIDEO] Sydney Roosters vs Gold Coast Titans highlights: NRL scores, blog

By Joel Erickson / Roar Guru

The Sydney Roosters have been on fire in recent weeks, and they’ll be looking to continue their good form when they host the Gold Coast Titans at Central Coast Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 2pm (AEST).

It’s been a strange season at Bondi so far this year, as they have the best for and against in the comp, yet find themselves three wins off the top of the ladder.

The Roosters have only lost one of the last six games, but they did have a four-game losing streak before that. They got a hard-fought win over the Dragons last time out, despite the unwanted publicity surrounding Michael Jennings.

The Titans are still in touch with the eight, despite last week’s shellacking at the hands of the Warriors. It was a close game for the first 40, but the Titans ran out of steam in the second half. With nine regular first graders currently missing for the Titans, this task becomes even more daunting than it already would have been.

The Roosters welcome back two big names this weekend, as both Jennings and Sam Moa take their place in the starting 13. Isaac Liu moves to lock, with Sio Siua Taukeiaho back to an extended bench, with Brendan Elliot and Suaia Matagi.

The Titans lost Aidan Sezer to injury last weekend, meaning Daniel Mortimer moves into the 7 jersey, while Chad Redman starts his first game in Titans colours. Nate Myles returns in the front row, while Eddy Pettybourne will play lock forward. Matt White has been named 18th man.

Prediction
This one could get ugly, as the Roosters have been in superb touch. With the amount of troops the Titans have missing, the Roosters have the potential to put a cricket score on them.

Roosters by 22.

I was right in front of the Maloney Try, and the pass went 5 meters forward. was the difference in the end. Titans tried hard, but had no attacking structure at all due to not having any halves (no Moritmer is not a half anymore)

Refs had a shocker! Jennings double movement promotion of the football after the tackle had been made, Penalty to Titans. and then Jennings pass 2 meters forward to a Malony try. I would be spewing if I was a titans fan, once again the Chickens get the Ref Sydney team bias!

Promotion of the football after the tackle had been made, wow! what a let off, should have been a penalty to the Titans.

What is annoying is that it is in the NRL rule book, Section 11 para 4

FULL TIME A sloppy second half has seen the Roosters hold on to a 20-10 victory over the Titans. It was a half of dropped ball, as both sides had real struggles keeping possession. Only one try was scored in the second half, with Nene MacDonald making things interesting by scoring in the 53rd minute. But the Roosters held on, and they were deserved winners in the end. Thanks for joining me for a messy game of Sunday Afternoon Football. The Tigers and the Panthers are only about 10 minutes away, so make sure to join The Roar for that one as well.

PENALTY GOAL ROOSTERS 80' Maloney nails the goal after the siren. Roosters 20 Titans 10

79' Maloney steps straight through some tired defence, and he has Pearce on the inside. He's wrapped up by Paasi, but the Titan lays on the tackle way too long, and Maloney will take a shot on goal to finish the match. Roosters 18 Titans 10

77' Guerra loses the ball, so maybe there is a chance for the Titans. They're showing expansive play, and they get free through the middle. Now they try kicking to the wing, and Kenny-Dowall does enough to stop Faifai Loa from scoring. Roosters 18 Titans 10

I've noticed that in recent weeks. There was one on Friday night where Alex Johnston just lay down with nobody near him.

76' The Titans come up with the dropout. They'll need to go 80 metres to make it interesting, but Luke Douglas has put the ball down!! I can't imagine either coach will be happy with this game. Roosters 18 Titans 10

Pearce got the ball and made no effort to play on, just lay there. Apparently the rule on voluntary tackles is another the referees don't know.

75' The Roosters are finding room up the gut now. Friend puts a little chip through, and Mead will be caught in goal. They need the short drop out now. Roosters 18 Titans 10

74' Luke Douglas got himself over the line, but he's held up. They'll try the right side, but Roberts is shut down by Jennings. They try the left side, and Faifai Loa is almost through, but the Roosters scrambling defence is there in time!! And now a penalty to the Roosters, so that should do it. Roosters 18 Titans 10

73' Great set from the Titans, and they're in attacking position. They spread to the right, and Dave Taylor will put a kick in. Tupou has lost the ball again, and the Titans get six more!! Roosters 18 Titans 10
