Cheap Seats 78: Naive and idiotic

By The Cheap Seats Podcast / Roar Guru

Sportswriters Brett McKay and Ryan O’Connell have finally passed through Customs to return in time for Episode 78 of the Cheap Seats podcast.

#AskTheCheapSeats is back with something of a backlog of questions on topics including Wimbledon, things starting on time, Origin 3, the NBA draft, the Tour de France, and disappointing Australian performances in the Super Rugby semis.

Two Australian sides in the Super Rugby Semis delivered zero Australian sides in the Final, as both the Brumbies and Waratahs were outplayed. Plus there was refereeing controversy.

Also, Origin 3 teams have been be named, and yet again there’s selection shenanigans involved.

In other news, James Hird tries to take the moral high ground, claiming someone else was “naive and idiotic”, the Ashes Series commences next week, the Matildas dream run at the Women’s World Cup came to an end, and the NBA Finals have been run and won.

Plus there’s a wrap up of the Cheap Seats Tipping League, which you can still join (if you prefer late starts) here.

Get us on Twitter at @CheapSeatsPod, PLUS now on the TuneIn radio app as well, and get your questions in for next week using the tag #AskTheCheapSeats. And stay cheap!

Origin could kick off before the first ball is bowled.. if there's rain in England -- pretty decent chance really. Don't know how anyone could pick a Wallaby back line without dice really, to say nobody has really staked a claim on the majority of positions is putting it charitably.

Yes. And you, as an admitted one-eyed tahs fan, thought it was controversial - a '50/50 call' i think you said. You were of the view that jp's illegal tackle had absolutely no impact on osbourne's ability to promote the ball a 'few millimeters' in order to score the try. Brett did not share your view of events. His opinion seemed to be in accord with that of Not Bothered iirc.

What controversy? The one where the ref sent off Potgeiter for a swinging arm that caught the Highlanders player in the head? Ohhh, how controversial...not. Maybe it was because a penalty try was awarded because in the act of scoring a Highlanders player was smashed in the head by a swinging arm and had he not it was more than likely would have scored, controversial? no.
