Could Hersi be Wandering back home?

Youssouf Hersi may well be heading back to the Wanderers. That’s if his Facebook account is anything to go by.

The Dutch midfielder who managed just eight appearances for Perth Glory after leaving the Wanderers, is a free agent and has raised a few eyebrows by changing both his cover and profile photos on the social media site Facebook, to images of him wearing the Red and Black strip.

Hersi’s short stint at the Glory came to an abrupt end when he was ruled out for the season after sustaining a torn right hamstring in Round 8. He was subsequently released after a season where the Glory were investigated over salary cap issues, with no word as yet to what his plans are.

His photo changes may be nothing more than an ode to his successful stint with the Wanderers, a club he didn’t want to leave but ultimately exited after supposed money and contract negotiations failed. But after an exodus of players and a season of failed signings, could the Wanderers look to Hersi as a safe bet?

Capable of playing on both wings and with a distinct doggedness fans adored, Hersi’s return could solve a few issues in the side, with a potential pairing with fellow Dutchmen, Romeo Castelen, particularly exciting.

Don’t go getting too excited however, this is all just one fan’s suspicion with a hint of hope.

In more solid news, the Wanderers have successfully signed Spanish midfielder, Andreu Guerao Mayoral. Mayoral is a product of the Barcelona youth system having played for Barcelona B along with stints with Spanish side, Racing Santander, and New Zealand team, Auckland City.

At 32 years of age, it seems like the player is likely past his best, but he may well surprise a few people given his experience in Spain and abroad.

The Wanderers marquee spot meanwhile is still gaping with no sign of who the side are looking into.

Having lost Tomi Juric and Kerem Bulut however, a marquee striker may well be on the cards.
